Various: N-O has lost the plot over potential end of Mike Ashley's tenure

PIF can’t walk away, Ashley can’t pull out. The only thing that can happen is they fail the O&D test.

PIF can walk away they’d just lose their deposit.

They’ve signed contracts. If they walked away they’d be dragged through the courts or stung by massive penalty clauses that dwarf their deposit.

No one is pulling out of this deal. The PL are the only people who can stop it.

Without knowing the specifics of the deal your speculating, what we do know is there’s a 17 milllion non refundable deposit.

If the Premier League put off the decision indefinitely it becomes unchartered waters, you can’t say for certain they won’t walk away.

The PL can’t just put it off indefinitely without having a reason and giving those reasons to both party’s, which would then end up in court most likely

There will be a date agreed in the contract to allow either party to walk away, guarantee it.

What do you think contracts exist for?

And why the fuck are the PL going to put off the deal indefinitely?

Liverpool being Champions is perfect for them to bury this into the middle pages of the newspapers.

I agree, it’s an ideal time to make the decision.

Basically if it doesn't happen in the coming couple of days, it's off.

No, not at all, it’ll happen, just a little longer.

How do you know there’s a penalty clause that dwarfs the deposit ? The non refundable deposit is the only penalty clause we know exists.

And see earlier post why I believe their currently unable to make a decision.

As much as that makes sense I think if they did that people would be screaming about the timing taking the gloss off their title win. 🤷‍♂️

I’m not so sure, at the moment Newcastle aren’t on the radar or perceived as a threat to the top six, when the takeover happens that is likely to change.

Its poor (Colin Robinson) Charnley I feel sorry for, driving to work every day in his Ford Escort not knowing if he'll be in a job by the end of the day.

Thought: if the offer is contingent on staying in the Premier League it may not be announced until that's a mathematical certainty. Previously we didn't know if the league would finish the season, we speculated that it might not, which would explain why this was seen as an imminent announcement, only to go quiet later.

I've not been following too closely, so no doubt I've figured something up.

Ashley wouldn't have signed a deal with those kind of conditions attached.

I've thought similar, I remember reading one Caulkin (?) tweet saying buyers were relaxed about the prospect of relegation but I didn't believe it for a second

I'm just speculating, obviously. That said, there's a lot of play in the words "relaxed about." They can't see it happening? They will but the club anyway? If the latter, does it affect the selling price, which would also delay an announcement of a finalized deal.

Both could be correct at the same time.

Saudis need to allow BEIN to prosecute someone for piracy and that sorts everything out. I’m sure they could do this in a way that shows they are serious and not lose face at the same time.

Cheers Premier league for turning what should be the most exciting time/news for Newcastle fans into one dull, monotonous shit boring affair. Hats off to you all. Pretty much turned it into the premier league itself. dull as fuck.
