He's a better player than what he's showing in the last few matches.  He's always second choice now but he needs to be showing more.  Not long ago he was in the England team.

He's had about half a dozen injuries since he was last in the England squad. He's a shadow of the player he was, even 12 months ago.

I'm as quilty as the next man for wearing rose tainted glasses for Wilson but sadly time catches up with everyone.

Last night needed someone to be able to counter attack to make Bournemouth wary... Their defenders knew they had the measure of him

We played Bournemouth in January....

I think people are being too harsh on his recent appearances and he needs some slack cutting. Think he’s looked progressively better - especially physically - in each sub appearance, which is what I’d expect from someone who has been injured for more or less 18 months.

I just can’t get on board with him. He’s 33 and off in summer, looks rusty even if argument is getting less rusty with each 20 min sub appearance. He’s done, invest in Osula.

I think that's the biggest worry, he knows he's gone in the Summer so does he actually really care if we come CL or not?

It's a good point. I've felt that about him since Isak emerged, just lost the fight to be the best he can be.

Does look a shadow of his former self and i suppose injuries can be blamed but we've had other players over the years who have come back from worse so there definitely has to be an attitude element to it as well.

At least he managed to get a medal before he retired (or move down the leagues).. although saying that, i can still see someone like West Ham giving him a 1 year deal.

Considering the fact Callum is still ahead of Osula in the pecking order with only 9 games left to go, I’m not at all convinced that Eddie is prepared to let him go by the end of the season.

Same.

He’s fighting for what will be his last pay day.  He’ll be keen as owt to play well and secure a good contract somewhere.

Agree with this. I’m a big Cal fan and he is getting better but he’s really showing a lack of mobility. With Brentford you know you’re getting an aerial attack so for Osula not getting any minutes - you know he’s well down Howe’s pecking order.

Callum will get minutes this season. I hope he can prove us wrong. He’s looked better but still well off the level he was.

If his attitude was poor Eddie wouldn’t play him imo.  He’s aging and had successive injuries.

Eddie is known to take his time with youngsters and he did similar to Hall and Livramento last year, he is also  loyal to Wilson who has been with him since the Bournemouth championship days, but it seems clear that his body is not the same and it's only downhill from here, i think the most logical thing is to keep Wilson as 2nd choice for the rest of this season and promote Ousla to that next season.

Doesn’t that decision not lie with Mitchell?

We'll offer a year extension, I'm convinced of it. Dummett and Ritchie were poised to sign on if City hadn't fucked up the cup final and he's way further up the pecking order than either of those were.

I know Wilson is more experienced and the senior pro, but surely Osula is going to trouble defences more and offer us more of an outlet.

Im starting to think this but Howe clearly seems to be banking on Wilson finding some form from somewhere.

If you expect Howe to share that opinion, you'll be sadly disappointed. Howe still trusts Wilson even when he's not got the mobility required for our game these days. He's still sniffing out half chances so I guess Howe will be hoping that he starts taking them when we have to use him instead of Isak in the run in.

Well we should sell osula then if he doesn't trust him on the pitch.

Never really had a chance to show his qualities here or if that nervous energy he has wore of as he got more experience.

Smacks of Wilson is a Howe favourite over the years and feels he must play him.

Osula was a gamble. He’s never really scored anywhere and none of us would have picked him out of Sheffield United. He’s got some good attributes but he isn’t even that young. He seems really immature as a person and I have a hard time imagining him as a deep student of the game or someone Eddie can trust to carry out a tactical plan. Now maybe he can get a few sub appearances between now and the end of the season and demonstrate his growth but Wilson will remain second choice till the summer.

I’m in the camp where Wilson has been improving somewhat with each sub appearance, he put in one delightful ball last night that someone should have gambled on. He’s not the Wilson of 2 years ago but he’s an infinitely better finisher than Will Osula and he may still pop up with a crucial goal before seasons end.

I suspect we're playing him to give him the opportunity to convince us to give him another year.

So far, I wouldn't. But he does seem to be getting a little better with each game which is promising.

I think he's trying too hard at times, lashing early shots, snatching at things, being a little greedy, which contributes to what I'm thinking - he's playing for another year. Remember him shooting instead of playing Gordon (I think) in during his first game back? Or maybe he's just determined to get to 50 for us. I dunno.
