Takeover Thread - July 1st statement, Staveley letter to Tracey Crouch (and response) in OP

Recommended Posts

The pork is mightier than the sword is factually correct. The deal is “officially” off the table. Whether there is a new deal is still to be confirmed but as it stands interest has been withdrawn and the only action ongoing involves compensation claims due to the deal collapsing for alleged legal breaches.

The rest is blind optimism and interpretation of bread based photographs, of which I’ve fully bought into.

Busted in minutes

To be fair I don't think he was trying to be inconspicuous.

What he said is right though, the consortium have publicly announced they are no longer interested. If they were interested again, they could say so. That they haven't should be a wake up call to some in here.

PIF have announced they are no longer interested not "the consortium."

Can anyone think of a reason why Ashley would engage a QC who specialises in International public law if PIF weren't still involved? I can't.

PIF only made a public statement, and (at the time) I certainly understood why!!  Sheer 'exasperation'.

PIF have never said they have withdrawn from the Consortium (the consortium would have told us about that if it had happened) neither have they (or anyone else) officially informed the Premier League that the bid has been withdrawn.

it is all still moving along, as it always should have been, quietly.

Like most people, I fear - after a long period of quiet - that it is 'off' and I constantly want to hear news (even 'informed leaks') but in reality it is far, far, far better without leaks.

All we have to do is . . . WAIT.

“As often occurs with proposed investments in uncertain periods, time itself became an enemy of the transaction, particularly during this difficult phase marked by the many real challenges facing us all from Covid-19

“We would like to say that we truly appreciated your incredible expressions of support and your patience throughout this process. We are sorry it is not to be. We wish the team and everyone associated with it much good luck and success.”

I'm here too.

I don't think what Luke Edwards has posted on here under his most recent guise is particularly wrong like. There's a small chance some meaningful progress is being made in the background but we've yet to see any real evidence of that outside of a few ITK's passing on what they've heard with the best of intentions.  I think anyone believing that this deal is anywhere near being concluded is deluding themselves though.

I think if the breakaway league is still a prospect in the near future, then that alone would put off investors like PIF. I haven't kept up to date with what's going on there, but it seems to me like there are still people, including Masters, who seem to think it's an ongoing discussion. Maybe I've just read it wrong though.

They’ve become a horrible club the last 10-12 years. There was something mystical about them mid 00s, hate that they’ve become just like the rest of the ‘elite’.

Maybe with the crumbling of our High St shops Ashley may think that the best way for him to make money is through NUFC rather than SD, hence our recent player acquisitions. Keeping Bruce is good and cheap providing we avoid relegation.

Not sure how you know that, as we are all 'hearing nothing', which is how it should be.

The deal is just as likely to be agreed tomorrow as it is in December or March.

The news, when it comes, will come out-of-the-blue.

Or it wont come at all, which is by far the most likely scenario given how its played out so far.

The final news most definitely will come.

Whether it is 'positive' or 'negative' final news, no-one knows!

Looks like it. But PIF said they were going to open an office in London despite the NUFC takeover, so it could be nothing?

Spot on probably related to their new London office, doesn’t do us any harm though if they’re increasing their presence in U.K.

The purchase of NUFC is essential to SA’s plans forward in sport and media and one of a key ways in which through that is the best way of showcasing what their money does to anything it touches and that’s exponential success packaged in a most royal, grande and godly like way. This will happen. They don’t back out!

He won,t get away with it,our day is coming

Thought this post would have created more of a frenzy. This lad doesn’t get a team selection wrong does he ?

It’s a pretty big difference between getting team selections right and having inside on the takeover...
