I'll get the thread right this time! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8166581/Newcastle-takeover-moves-one-step-closer-fruition.html 1 year ago today "Newcastle takeover moves one step closer after 'Premier League is informed of £340m attempt to buy out Mike Ashley by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund'"

Only Mike Ashley would willingly relegate a club in order to force a sale. If the consortium have said we still want the club, Ashley knows this is his best chance of getting money that is sitting there waiting.

It may not be the amount he wanted, but its money, and you have to ask yourself, does Ashley care more about money or the club?

If he's getting wind that arbitration isnt/won't go well and or the PL still strongly object and are unwilling to compromise, then he will absolutely let the club sink so he can get shot of it in the football league.

If the consortium have said we'll only buy if it remains in the PL, there's absolutely no valid reason he has done nothing about Bruce. At this moment Bruce is the biggest threat to Ashley getting a sale, and the fact that Ashley seems not bothered, in my opinion, speaks volumes.

The key constant is Ashley is thick as fuck when it comes to owning a football club. He will believe we still can stay up and be dumbfounded if we get relegated again, but still think we can come back up with modest investment after selling certain stars post relegation. He deserves missing out in coming back up first time and taking on a second year in Championship to really hurt him. Else its just a minor inconvenience he will hope to avoid for another 5 years if we come straight back up. As long as we are in the PL we will be over priced to those that can pass PL owners test and buy us. He will only sell if it's a massive loss to him owning it. Few years in Championship might be what does it, better than another decade of shite managers and flirting with relegation and going nowhere in the PL.

Don’t confuse being thick with pure spite. He hates the club and especially the supporters. The thin skinned cunt.

You think those chants that he pretends to laugh off didn’t get to him?

He’s got the offer he wants. 100%

We were close to relegation under Pardew and Carver and he did fuck all. He likely would have done fuck all about McClaren idf Rafa hadn't made it easy for him.

No valid reason but a history of doing the unreasonable.

Yeah, he may. But we don’t. So let’s hope it doesn’t happen.

We can never be more than what we are under Ashley. Few years in second tier isn't what the fans deserve, but if it rids us of this parasite of an owner it could stop us having another decade of Ashley and simply being his promotional cash cow. Greater good and bigger picture etc.

Premier league/fan money/their ‘Ahl wi smiling faces’ next to an SD sign is what keeps him here. No prospect of mass boycott. Whatever breaks that cycle. Takeover obviously the most convenient.

Not that long ago, I might have thought there was something positive to take from that.
Now I feel nothing. Bored and fed up with it all.

Yeah to be honest I wish he would shut the fuck up with his tweets. It could come back to bite him in the arse if he fails to win the arbitration case and the swarm of twitter trolls hit his account en masse. Probably not be that bothered mind with his huge fee in his back pocket.
