alexf Posted Wednesday at 13:20 Share Posted Wednesday at 13:20 I think the context of that clip is slightly misleading. I think it looks like it was right when we got took over and every uninformed media person assumed we had mega money and would attract all the big name managers and players. So it looks like they were laughing at the first Newcastle fan to call up and be sensible and want to build realistically with youth and a manager like Howe they laughed him off because they probably thought we'd be wanting a big name and players like Mbappe. Howe had been out of work for a year or so post Bournemouth relegation. Not that this defends them as they are still no nothing idiots and since this clip their clubs have gone backwards and we have had champions league and won a cup now. So jokes well and truly on them. Which, I wouldn't be overly against tbh. Yorkie Posted Wednesday at 14:17 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:17 My opinion on Southgate never really changed and I stand by it all. The last Euros were incredibly uninspiring though despite reaching the final and agreed that it was time for him to go.

To go from a petulant man-child who shirked even the most basic of duties to Howe is about as night and day as it gets. A progressive, forward-thinking coach who will throw himself into the role whilst all the while being respectful and articulate? Yes please. I've said it before but I think he'll shock a few people. It's a huge, huge opportunity for him and I hope he absolutely nails it. Howeay the lads and all that!
Magpie Posted Wednesday at 15:02 Share Posted Wednesday at 15:02 I'm sorry like but Southgate was and is absolutely shite!!! Stumbled across a better than average squad and unified them etc but tactics wise, absolutely diabolical.

Fucking hell On 13/02/2019 at 18:47, Gallowgate End said: Wake up pal Eddie Howe has conceded the same as Huddersfield No one is aware of it because the media spend every week only belittling the managers that can actually organise a side. Modern fans seem to think Howe is a football god and Benitez style is out of date had to listen to the cheek of a Fulham fan say it the other day. In Eddie Howe’s case you have to be one hell of a naive manager defensively when a team managed by Jokanovic for a big chunk of the season is the only man to concede more than you. Funny how all these media darlings that the public sheep then fantasize over(Wagner, Jokankovic and Howe) all have the worst defensive records. The public are now absolutely obsessed with it being the “Right way” to play even with relegation sides. Even Fulham fans are singing for Jokanovic to come back and save them have they not learnt anything? I mean dear god they would have conceded 100 goals by now with that “Plays the right way” absolute naive media darling that Jamie Redknapp was obsessing over still in charge. Fulham fans should be absolutely sick of watching the opposition score 3/4/5 every week just for the likes of Paul Merson and Jamie Redknapp and Skysports to get some sexual satisfaction! Entertaining football.. Yeah for the opposition and Skysports.

Concerns are his defensive record (hopefully he's thought on this during his lengthy time off) and it sounds daft but his apparent unwillingness to move from the South Coast up to now. Hope he doesn't have bother settling or anything. The relegation doesn't worry me, almost all managerial spells fizzle out in the end and they only narrowly went down in the end anyway. Maybe the relegation takes the job he did at Bournemouth down to an A from an A+, but no more than that as the job he did there was unbelievable. There's a lot to get excited about imo - attractive style of play, innovative methods, obsessive attention to detail and also this is a bloke who has had ample time out of the game to recharge and doubtless feels like he has something to prove now. See no reason why both Howe and NUFC can't push on together now, but we do need wins soon if we're to attract decent players in January. He needs to galvanise the squad quickly and I think he has the type of personality where he can do that.

We're not there yet in terms of competing for top managers and players, so tbh I'm very happy with this signing, get someone young in who can build the club and grow with it. Could end up being a match made in heaven if he makes a real success of it, and if not we can part ways ideally in a better position than we are now. Hid my other post as that was actually referencing Emery, I'm just dumb Pretty pleased with this in regards to Howe
midds Posted Wednesday at 15:48 Share Posted Wednesday at 15:48 Pretty sure I wanted Fonseca or Emery before Howe iirc.
