Joelinton: was about to be rode out of town.  Scorned object of derision who has been transformed into a near elite midfielder who is a leader on the pitch and a genuine good guy.

Miggy: ran around like a muppett, scared of his own shadow.  Now plays with bags of confidence and scores for fun.

Longstaff:  raised up by Rafa only to sink back into the quagmire under Brewce.  He's not a world beater by any stretch but used correctly can be relied upon for a quality shift.

Murphy: another headless chicken who has been given proper direction and is now a serviceable PL player.

Shelvey: fat, lazy and disinterested.  Under Howe he has gotten fit and has a bit of fire.  The old Shelvey would have milked the injury until the WC at least.  It was great to see him back

Schar: Brewce had him on the scrap heap.  He's back where he belongs.

That's six guys.  They were lost money.  They weren't contributing and nobody wanted them.  Under Howe they have confidence and play with purpose.  Just like new signings, indeed, with no extra cost.  Brilliant work.

I want to quote this post verbatim every time I have to read or listen to some ill-informed tosser go on about money.

Very well said. Might as well chuck Fraser and Krafth in there as well, for their dramatically improved performances last season. Last season's emphatic resurgence is definitely a contributing factor to the incredible start we've had this year.

It's all so much fun man.

So who's next on the redemption arc?

I'm going to go with Jamal Lewis.

Reckon we are pretty much done with redemption arcs.

The only one I could foresee is Lascelles if Schar was to get injured and even then I couldn't imagine how Eddie would turn Lascelles into Franz Beckenbauer.

Getting a feeling that other clubs may try and replicate our tactics of pressing high and heavy now our successes are being highlighted and from the snippits flagged up on MOTD it looks like it.

Think we've a manager that has a lot more than the ideas currently being highlighted in the locker though and can successfully change the style.

It's not like the way we play us anything new. Terms like "high press" might be quite vogue but the top teams have always had more energy and intensity.

The better players they have the less energy they need because they read the game quicker. They've also had better squads so can soak up the fatigue injuries.

Lesser clubs can't and, more to the point, it can't be done overnight. Took Howe 2 months ?

It's absolute suicide if not done in the correct way though. Player fitness is key.

Will be interesting to see how fit we look towards the end of the season as we put so much of a shift in every game.

The World Cup break will help massively for us especially I would imagine.

I remember it being mad seeing Alex Ferguson's ManU hit us on the attack at SJP and it was just unlike anything else in terms of speed and intensity.

We just look so well coached. The team buy into process. I imagine we train hard but the players have freedom and time to relax. The whole set up looks really good atm. Howe is friendly with players but he is the boss, and they respect that.

Think Howe is prepared to run them into the ground for the last few games before the break. Nice refresh, few players back, one or two signed.... Europe here we come.

Have to wonder how many of the Chelsea internationals will be 100% fully committed in the last game before the World Cup break. Will they be phoning it in and making sure they're tip top for Qatar? I reckon there's a decent chance of a good result in that game personally :)

Besides, they aren't the frightning Chelsea of old, although they have improved under Potter. There are numerous deficiencies in their side.

Would happily take a draw though.

Just read an Athletic article with Isaac Hayden, and he talked about Howe.

Said Howe calls him every few weeks to check in etc, and said Howe is the best coach he has had in terms of man-management.

I think for a player who was of the first to leave to make those comments about Eddie just shows what a top top man we have in charge.
