I could not give a shit about winning hearts and minds

I find it absolutely tiresome and pathetic people failing to just enjoy the result and take the positives from the performance tonight (Which is that we were the better side and we created the better chances)

I like this!

You should do the team talks.

A bit of ruthlesness and passion is what we need.

I am aware you are an admin so I won't disagree.

I hope things get better.

Oh FFS this is pathetic, man. None of you have the faintest clue what oppression looks like, but you scream it like toddlers every time someone pushes back on your opinions. Fucking grow a pair, and argue back without resorting to this horse shit.

Left back and attacking midfielder with great short passing skills required. Willock needs shipping.

Ramsay and Elanga need to update their games

LB is a must, already numberwise.

The attacking midfielder is bit of a problem. Bruno is only one who can actually pass the pall from our midfield 3. He is undroppable of course, and that LCM slot we have Joelinton, Willock and Ramsey. I would say Willock is about to leave, and Ramsey can cover on the wing. So maybe that leaves a spot there. But we really need Tonali to improve his game.

If that attacking midfielder means RW, I agree, but that would mean we need to sell one of the wingers. Sadly it will be Barnes.

the transition into a possession based side, when's that starting?

I don’t think we’ve got the players currently to do it. For all Joelinton and Tonali have qualities, passing and retaining possession isn’t their strengths.

There’s a huge rebuild job needed, we consistently give the ball away and Bruno despite being by far our best player, is also guilty of forcing passes. Quite often when we’ve got a chance to build play we’ll bypass it with an aimless ball forward, ironically it was a shite forced ball from Tonali that the 3rd goal came from.

it's really quite alarming, any sort of pressure and it goes astray to easily

We look to be getting better as an attacking unit across 90 minutes. Still serious issues in how easy it is to bypass the midfield with one ball because it’s flat and that looks like it will never change.

At this point I’m not expecting it to change because Howe is wielded to that, but as long as we can keep improving in attack with our link up, passing, movement and chance creation. We can score 3 in a game very often and it takes defensive issues out of the equation. That’s been the bedrock of our success in the past, racking up the goals (often in quick succession) which can take a game away from opposition and when in second half of season, it can mentally kill off a game because opposition will accept defeat and save legs, if we don’t gift them an easy way back in.

I mean, it isn’t in the long run - if your away form means you can’t achieve anything or get anywhere.  It’s far too soon to be sacking Howe IMO, though.

Then let's wait for it to become a long term issue before we even begin to discuss the repercussions of it being so?

Glad someone finally stood up.

When will Yorkie's reign of terror end?

They call him the Kim of the Moors. You should see some of his posts in the Admin area, Prevent would have a field day.

Tonali is out of form but he’s normally absolutely fantastic at keeping the ball for the team. This is an absolutely wild opinion in a thread full of lunatics.

Aye. He was playing single touch passes into feet and switching play etc. With ease last season. He's clearly out of form (not quality) and is one of our most played players, so fatigue may well be an element.

I watched the majority of the game last night in a pub, which does tend not to give the best picture of the performance (and tbf I wasn't drinking) - but to me it looked like an 'OK' performance, we did enough to win without being spectacular, and had we taken our chances we'd have put 4 or 5 past them.

It felt like the type of away performance that you need to get points at places like Burnley, it's unlikely many teams will go there and give them a good kicking without them getting at least a portion of the game where they're on top.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I feel like I don't have these wild swinging emotions that our fanbase seems to have these days.

With the season we've had so far, the fact we are four points off 5th spot is remarkable. Howe can count himself quite lucky with this, any other season and we'd most likely be adrift in midtable and 9/10 points off UCL places.

It was just as congested last year up until the very last day. We went from 12th to 5th in two matches at this stage and went into the Arsenal match with 2nd in our hands. Villa were cut adrift in 11th by March and made it to 6th.

Were we the better side though mate? It was pretty much 1 way traffic in that second half!

Maybe, I'm getting old too then. Bastard.

Jokes aside I think it's the social media generation personally. Everything is binary and there's no grey matter or context considered anymore.

It might have felt like that, partly because we have an expectation of how it should go against the likes of Burnley, and partly because we are scarred from giving away a lead so much this season.

But even given they were visually the dominant side in the first 20 mins of the second half, the numbers hardly scream ‘one way traffic’:
