OoOGazOoO
There's so much to like about Eddie but I don't think his stubbornness is a great method at times. Can someone tell me, since they have been fit, have Wissa & Woltemade been on the pitch together? Thiaw aside, the summer looks pretty rough in terms of the business we did - Howe says they will get there, naturally, they are his signings, he isn't going to say anything other than that, but when do we admit that actually somethings aren't working and we have had nearly 5 months of the season and things still haven't really clicked for some. People like you would have 100% been Emery out and saying Newcastle are the side they should be competing with when they were getting beat by the like of Wolves, Palace, and Forest. That’s the main issue. And it is interesting how quiet it is in here after a win. and yes, Howe deserves some criticism for this season. Ok lets enjoy the same patterns of play for the rest of the season. We aint gonna agree, brother. I don't want Eddie out (ask an admin what my vote is) - what I want is some change, because it's beyond frustrating going out and playing the same every game. Beren
Just now, Mikky said: This - I take it back to the signings - mass spend on little return bat Thiaw - we massively cocked it up in the summer and it has set us back Howe has been here since 2021. In word and action he hasn't IMO really ever shown a commitment to football that relies on being better physically than the opposition and showing more intensity. Even when he's had a clean bill of health and enough players to work towards it (if not the perfect squad - which we will never realistically have with our resources/the lopsided PSR deck). The way I see it, I think we can continue to be a good cup team under Howe (probably more competitive in seasons with less demanding European fixtures) but I don't think his philosophy is well suited for competing at the top end of the league and in multiple cup competitions. I don't think it's coincidence the injury situation is what it is with another CL campaign. He squeezes every last drop out of them. Different fans/owners will have varying levels of expectation and ambition. Unless there is a better manager out there who wants to be at Newcastle, competing for cups every now and again is alright with me.
p_cowell141
I love Eddie. He clearly cares about the players, he 'gets' the club and the region, and he's a brilliant coach. But he HAS to be open to criticism about playing so predictably, with a lack of plan B and creativity with in-game management. And it goes without saying, he shouldn't be trusted near transfers ever again. I hope he turns it around. But stubbornness to reasonable criticism isn't helpful. Nor is clearly being favourable to players who aren't producing.

That we are basically on par this season, as it stands The first is a huge positive for Howe but the longer the second remains true, the weaker the "nobody could do as good a job as Howe with this squad" argument gets. Still very tight though and anything from 7th/8th upwards is par and not sack-worthy We have been totally overachieving. And helped by ManU and Spurs being shit. Our squad is not UCL-level. No issue with justified complaints, it's the sudden influx this thread gets every time we lose that at this point I just find very funny

SUPERTOON
My main question for him would be what was the plan going into the season? We signed players designed to play a certain way, and haven't played that style. If we had planned on changing the style of play, then why bring them in. We then spent huge on Wolt and haven't tried anything to play to his strengths.
