Something like 11 nations have reached the group stage of a European competition for the first time since its got introduced, thats invariably a very good thing, it gives them teams a chance to grow and get the exposure of playing in Europe, gives their fans experiences they never thought possible. The problem is that people in England and look at the teams in it and scoff, when them smaller teams are what make the tournament great. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great for everything you just said. But for a Premier League club, especially any that are the 8-10 richest PL clubs, all it does for me is highlight the absolutely absurd disparity in spending power. And it's to such an extreme that I think it takes away any value from winning it for those clubs.

Good points....and lets face it, it gets boring playing Man City, PSG, Barca etc too often. (Hence why a Euro super league would be a bore)
Ben
Gets this fella on a 10 year contract, before the likes of Barca snap him up
Pilko
We had a great go at that first half. Proud of the effort. Sadly, we've not been good enough defensively this entire season and whilst Barca are unbelievable, we gifted them 3 or 4 of those goals with wank defending and a keeper (either one, the same) who watches every shot fly past him. Please, please just win the derby. A defeat in that game would be so damaging and we don't need it.

La Parka
They won't because getting spanked off Barcelona is acceptable. We ain't near their league.
Aiston
Don't understand his refusal to rest players. Hall, Barnes, Gordon all should have came off 15-20 minutes ago. We lost, heavily, it doesn't matter who else comes on.

TRC
In fairness to Howe the fact he can’t use 130m worth of strikers in this game because they are absolute shite. We will have Dan Burn and Trippier is on the back room or lack of.

Ellis H
In tonights squad only Hall, Tonali and maybe Tino are good enough for the back end of the Champions League. We're still playing people who were fighting relegation under Bruce and people like Pope, Ramsdale, Barnes etc all got relegated before we signed them. Us doing this well is a massive victory in itself. Give him the right players and he'll have us regularly winning these games.
SUPERTOON
Learning curve, get Sunday out the way and we have 3 weeks off. Still have massive issues throughout the side but summer and time on the training pitch can help.

Rest just are nowhere near. Got as far as could be expected though and hope can rescue league season and a bit of a rest. Need to learn how to be a solid team though and need some fresh players, probably 4 or 5 of them. If we go into next season with Pope, Trippier, Schar, Murphy etc still starting so many games it won't get us far. Don't mind as options off bench or whatever for a couple of them but teams needs proper fresh start
Newcastle Fan
Sunday will be a big day for him. Personally think he's the best manager we've had in my life time but i am really not happy with him this season, insisted on having control of signings, signed a pile of shit and we lost our abillty to compete. 2nd half tonight was an embarssement infront of the whole world. The College Dropout
28 minutes ago, Mikky said: Punched ourselves out in the first half This is the best place to learn and develop your management Exactly this. It was Anthony Yarde-Esque. Going into the game I thought we needed to keep it tight until the last 20 minutes where we only needed 1 goal to equalise or something. Keep it tight, preserve some energy. But we went blow for blow. The 3rd goal took the wind out of our sails and they ran it up. Had we gone in 2-1 up maybe it’s a less embarrassing story at the end. But the 1v1 for 90 minutes was likely to end up embarrassing at points. btw the only way we could ever compete with Barca now is if we somehow ended up with a worlds best academy. The gap in wages is gigantic.
