I hear alot of pundits thinks Gary O'Neil should get manager of the year. 

I know he didnt have the best starting point, but you dont give manager of the year to someone who has lost 50% of his games and got a -19 goal difference.

O'Neil and Cooper are probably worth an honourable mention for having unfashionable sides that were supposedly stuck-on for relegation and steering them to safety, in GON's case with about a month to spare. Agree that they shouldn't win it though.

 

Emery doesn't merit it IMO, that Villa side should be 7th-10th anyway and it's only the contrast with Gerrard's ineptitude and underperformance that's got him on the list.

 

Silva probably gets in with a serious shout if they finished a few places higher, he's done a good job though - as has De Zerbi although you could argue he had the most stable platform and it's more of a continuation job rather than anything wildly different.

 

Arteta has done well but Howe's level of progress from last season takes him ahead seeing as he didn't secure the title from a good position - for me it's all down to whether Guardiola takes the treble or not. Then it gets a bit harder to argue against him.

I feel like Thomas Frank is not mentioned enough. Brentford has the lowest wage bill and transfer spend in the league. Even Bournemouth are spending more. It's unlikely, but they can still make Europe with 1 game to go!

Weird, but I hadn't even thought about manager of the season, but hard to think of anyone else who should get it. Howe should probably have won it last season as well.

This season has been amazing. For the first time ever it looks like we've got where we are through sensible and sustainable management.

 

Yes Keegan got us places, but it always looked like surfing on a wave that was always going to collapse, Robson did too, but always relied on a bit of magic from Robert, Bellamy, or a bit of grit from Shearer or Speed.

 

We seem to have a bit of all now and some smarts for a change....just changes that last minute draw to a win, or pulls a win from no-where. Makes a difference
