huss9
such a classy moment from him when Lascelles came on. went straight over to him and gave him the captains armband.
Tiresias
Look at the mess Gerrard made at Villa with the captaincy, pissing everyone off stripping mings of captaincy for weird reasons, and look at us and how Howe has respected Lascelles for his off the pitch leadership and balanced that with clear leaders coming in. No sign of any jealously, internal competitiveness, everyone respects everyone and pulling in same direction
Super Duper Branko Strupar
Some of his touches today were pure sex. Even the one that he ended up losing the ball for at the edge of our box which ended up in a goal for us. toontownman
His control receiving the ball while on the break, late on at pace was a thing of beauty. His nutmeg and skills not long after was even better. Real shame he isn't a few years younger but we wouldnt have got the same player. The Madrid move took him to a new level. For me he is one of the classiest players we have had. As @huss9 highlighted, he just gets it and it's not just playing the game it's honest. Tripps is up there with the likes of Speed for leadership skills on and off the pitch. Hope we keep him here on staff for years to come. A young RB successor will likely come in January or next summer but I expect there are few better and more giving to learn from.
GeordieDazzler
Another high IQ moment was when one of our players went down (shoved into the the boards) he sprinted over to block the medical staff from approaching indicating to let him check first. Miggy (I think?) was fine and it meant that he didn’t need to leave the pitch on the restart.
Wilson
Unbelievable that Mings didn't go in the book for that mind, Miggy was picking the ball up for the throw in and was given a blatant push in the back meaning he flew face first into the boards. Not like he had any momentum and couldn't help going into him, just a blatant push. Obvs Miggy was OK but it was just another thing the ref let go unpunished yesterday. His touch from the crossfield diagonal passes always look so effortless. It is really noticeable every game.

Kanj
The way Trips plays, his reading of the game is unreal — there’s more years to his game than people realize imo

He’s the ultimate professional and looks after himself from a health and fitness perspective. He doesn’t rely on pace. His game is all about touch, technique, positioning, leadership and intelligence. I don’t see him losing any of those traits anytime soon. He could easily be a top level player until he’s 35/36. wormy
It's amazing just how much of our play revolves around a right back tbh. Sometimes it's extremely noticeable when it's not clicking. The first half today felt like a previous recent match where we didn't seem to know exactly what we were trying to do and how, and it kept going back to him to work it out which, in fairness, he almost did a few times with some cracking balls wherever he could. Then that second half came, the rest of the team caught up to him and that's when you really see how outrageous his playmaking ability can be. I knew he had a cracking delivery in general but I didn't realise just how great his general footballing IQ is; it's up there with the best.

Cant speak for pre-1990ish, but in 20 or so games he's already surpassed everything Beye, Watson, Venison, Barton, Debuchy, Janmaat ever did both on and off the pitch in terms of quality and quantity. He's absolutely class, a leader, and is quite a few levels above the player that left Spurs. Edited October 30, 2022 by Kid Icarus

I'm just old enough to remember the tail end of David Craig's career with us - and he set the gold standard prior to Trippier. The two guys that followed DC were good quality too - Irving Nattrass and John Brownlie. Tripps is something else again, though, and has been absolutely crucial in our transformation.
