This is all the same sort of chat people had when they were clowning Arsenal for signing Ramsdale last summer, who wasn't even as highly rated as Henderson. Ramsdale is now pushing Pickford for the number one spot for England. Ironically, it was Howe that bought Ramsdale through at Bournemouth after getting him as a kid for less than £1 million.

People are so short sighted man. I hope we manage to get Henderson in. We need a long term solution at that position and he is plenty good enough and young enough to be just that.

Burn and targett was terrible signings to if I remember rightly.

Absolutely. If we sign Henderson and he plays regularly (and assuming his arms haven't turned to jelly after being sat on the bench for a year), he & Ramsdale between them should relegate Pickford to third choice for England.

Henderson wouldn’t look out of place in any side outside the ‘big 6’ like. If he was at Leicester, Wolves, West Ham etc you wouldn’t look at those clubs and think they need a better keeper. I think he’d be a good signing.

People are remembering Henderson from his Sheffield United days and I agree he impressed. But mainly as a shop stopper, I don't recall him being good with his feet or excelling at distribution. So I think he is a very similar type of keeper to Dubravka. Hence why I feel it's a bit of a sideways move. Yes Henderson is younger but 33 for a Keeper isn't old.

That terrible Sheff Utd side got a top half finish in the PL and were flying before lockdown. He was with them in the championship promotion too

My mistake, wrongly thought he was there a year after he was. Point still stands though if you remove the word ‘terrible’.

Even if you hold the opinion that Henderson is equal in ability to Dubravka, he's younger and ticks the homegrown box for the squad - at £15mill its value.

Also competition for the number 1 would improve the pair of them too. I agree Henderson would only be coming here if promised the #1 spot but wouldn't do either of them any harm having that competition for a place.

Also seen Dubravka have a fair few injuries in recent years and we're then stuck with Darlow for a sustained period again? No thanks.

Furthermore, trust the recruitment/Howe after the success we've had since January window. It's a smart signing.

The year he left Sheffield he was going back to compete with De Gea and I think a lot of fans at that time actually wanted Henderson to be the man u number 1. After going back to Man u, the combination of some questionable games from Henderson and then De Gea being very good again when he did play lead to Dea Gea cementing himself as the number 1.

Correct me if I'm wrong. @Froggy

You're pretty much spot on. I think Henderson is a very good keeper. De Gea is just elite. Henderson is far too good to be a #2.

Author of 11 goals this season, in 26 appearances, Hugo Ekitike (19) is promised a bright future. His departure from Reims during the next summer transfer window is no longer in doubt and was confirmed by Jean-Pierre Caillot this Monday in the columns of L'Union : "The file is following its course and it will be transferred" , assured the president of Reims.

It remains to be seen where the young French striker will continue his progress. At PSG, the last candidate proclaimed? "He has the qualities to one day join this type of club, but I think it's still too early" , replies Caillot, who would on the other hand see him sign in Newcastle, interested since last winter: "It 's typically the kind of environment where he could continue to grow and move on."

More than 20 M€ and a percentage on resale

While Ekitike only has two years left on his contract and played little in the second half of the season due to injury, how much are Reims claiming? "The amount should be more than 20 million euros. Afterwards, you have to know how to be reasonable" , confides Caillot, before specifying that Reims also wants a percentage on a future resale.

Last winter, the president of Reims said he wanted €30m + €10m in realizable bonuses as well as 25% on a future resale. It therefore seems to have lowered its requirements. In addition to PSG and Newcastle, several other European clubs would be on the lookout, from West Ham to Dortmund via Bayern Munich. But according to L'Union, the two German tracks have cooled down.

Henderson isn’t leaving Man United’s bench to come sit on our bench , if we sign him he will be our number one .

Correct. I’m not convinced about him after seeing him play for Man Utd and his games against us for SU.

He was ropey all game in this fixture…

Imagine losing 3-0 to that NUFC side? That first highlight [emoji38] How different does Joelinton look now tho.

Given the strong links to Ekitike, it seems that we're going to substantially invest in a goal scoring winger/midfielder and retain Wilson as the main striker.

He could be a squad addition TBH, not that expensive and young.

I do think Wilson has given them food for thought though, if they’re confident they can manage his fitness.

The club have allegedly acknowledged that goal scoring needs to be improved throughout the team. I don’t think Ekitike was ever going to be our ‘main’ striker, either this summer or last Jan- he’s always been one for the future/squad alongside Wilson and a more experienced CF.

I’d be happy with Wilson our main upfront option because I think he’s top class. The only thing with him is that we have to account for the fact that he will get injured for a sustained period of time and having Wood and Ekitike as the backup options doesn’t really inspire ….
