Raconteur
1 hour ago, The Prophet said: It depends where we intend to play Bruno. If we're slotting him back into defensive midfield, Paqueta could take up the second attacking midfield role. I remember @Milanista saying that’s exactly what Milan trying to do without success. He seems to be most effective as a #10, which we haven’t really used. And there’s a case for saying Eddie might change tactics to fit him in, but changing our whole system to accommodate one (excellent) player isn’t something I see Eddie doing (this season anyway). I think a lot of our strategy at the moment is just being patient and seeing what players are available but don't move anywhere. I think if there's a top player available who hasn't managed to get a club sorted we'll spend big on the last day. I still think PIF want that marquee signing. Although trippier could easily have been that. In some ways I hope there is absolute silence from us on deadline day. Smacks of desperation to be doing deals at the 11th hour. I can see Villa having a big one for example. I can however see why we may be forced into acting on deadline day. If clubs are holding out for more money suddenly realise we aren't taking their horseshit, they could well cave in on the final day.

At Lyon last season, before Bruno left, he was most regularly used as a wide right forward or a false nine. He seems like a really versatile player and it's more about how he's coached than where he's played as such.
Optimistic Nut
https://www.whoscored.com/Players/319756/Show/Lucas-Paquetá Bible for playing positions. Whether we’d pay all that money for someone just capable of playing that role rather than someone who’s natural role it is, is a tricky one. I know his ratings in those positions are strong but difference between filling in for 5-6 games than playing a full season there? Joelinton’s ratings are better as a centre-forward for example but he played well the few times he covered last year. https://www.whoscored.com/Players/201755/Show/Joelinton Edited July 3 by Optimistic Nut
STM
Interesting because we were also confident of signing Botman. I was originally unimpressed by Broja links, but in hindsight I was being harsh on the young lad. If we can get a loan with a view to a permanent, I think that would suit all parties. In all honesty, an understudy role to Wilson might be perfect for him. SUPERTOON
I can’t see Chelsea keeping him tbh.
The Prophet
He was streaky in front of goal, but he has all the attributes to be a really decent striker.
The Butcher
He's never going to get much of a chance there. Loan with an option to buy would be great and would probably mean that we could spend quite a bit on a RW.

A deal should be relatively easy to do, which would be a pleasant change.

Be interesting to see what sort of fee we could agree for the future. What do we think Chelsea rate him at? 25m?
junkhead
Mehhh, don't see the fuss about this guy. Especially as an option for the wide positions.. Powerful runner but his touch seems poor and his work rate and finishing hasn't been that impressive. Fully trust Howe and the gang of course.. HTT II
I rate him, yes he didn’t have a good second half of the season, but that’s the form Southampton showed too, the two go hand in hand. He’s strong, quick enough, can finish, can play down the flanks or through the middle and I imagine wouldn’t be demanding the number 9 shirt and to play every game. He’d be perfect on loan with an option to buy. Frees up money for other areas.
