Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

Also wouldn't be surprised if teams have caught in to our relatively good track record with signings recently and thought "if Newcastle are seriously in for them then they must be good" seems to be what Chelsea do anyways.

I wonder what bullshit saga we'll see today

Has that 'Laurens' guy on X posted any follow up?

Think the focus has moved more onto Isak since last night. Would be brilliant if we tied up Ekitike while the scousers are chucking in failed bids for Isak.

How come our interest is well known but some other "mystery club" is allowed to keep its interest a secret?

Bullshit or shenanigans ?

I'd say malarky or poppycock myself.

Meet the buyout amount and put the ball in Ekitike's court. If he wants the move then he'll sign, if he doesn't he doesn't and everyone can move on. If Liverpool want him then they can cough up the buyout fee too

I honestly don't understand why this wasn't the case from the start if we were serious, felt like it made no sense to low ball a release cause if/when others are interested.

It’s more money!!! Spend more pay on him then it’s less can spend everywhere else.

The club have to be commercially minded. There will be a number they won’t go above for him as at that point they don’t view it as worthwhile

Unfortunately true. I'm sure if it wasn't for the PL looking after cartel interests we'd just pay the money and get all this shit done. Liverpool wouldn't even be in the picture.

Well yes I get that, but the release clause is there for a reason.  More often than not, offering below it is going to get laughed at (unless the player isn't actually worth the clause cost or you're City).

Don't know, just doesn't seem very productive to me.

Because the initial noises were that we were close to agreeing a fee around £70m which was probably acceptable for us to pay out, but the release clause is rumoured to be around £86m. So we add on £16m just like that because Liverpool have allegedly threatened to bid aswell?

Unfortunately £16m + any additional costs in agent fee % etc could mean the difference between getting a new GK or CB. We have seen how strict PSR is and the club won't risk spending beyond it's means.

If we can't get Ekitike at the price we value him because the cartel clubs want to play politics then fine we have to just deal with that unfortunate circumstance and move on.

Without even a whisper of bitterness, I personally somewhat enjoy the cartel clubs rampantly exploiting the unjust landscape of English football, spending money unchecked and entirely out of proportion with what we can even dream of. We will continue beating them, pushing them all the way, and taking silverware from them. And as a result, every time we win in such unfavourable conditions, it will be a kind of sweetness which we will never grow tired and weary of.

Let them.

If our ‘bid’ is £70, shouldn't we be offering another £16 million to find out if they're being serious and also able to talk to the player? It would end the speculation one way or another?
