KaKa
Quote Talks collapsed in January but Newcastle have now agreed to pay €31m (£26.4m) to sign Ekitike, with Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot confirming to France Bleu that everything is now in the hands of the player. "Yes [there is an offer], it is very concrete," Caillot admitted. "It's an offer which suits us very well and which, in my view, is sportingly interesting for the player and it is now up to him to make his choice, it is not for me to do so. "From now on, it is his advisers who must move forward on this one. If it's not done, it's because his advisers have not yet wished to move forward with this club." When asked to confirm whether he was speaking about Newcastle, Caillot chose to remain tight-lipped but admitted that the negotiations are hardly a secret at this point. "We're remaining discreet but, hey, it's an English club. You know which club we're talking about." Caillot continued: "[Ekitike's agents] have not yet started to move forward on the deal on which we are in agreement. "It's part of their game, and there are lots of agent structures. There are big agent firms that have connections in all directions and it's often easier to work with these people than agents who only have one player. I spent enough time on the transfer of Axel Disasi, who was advised by his brother, and it was very complicated. So I hope that won't be the case with Hugo." Just seen these quotes from about a month ago. The Reims president already told us what was going on. We must have all missed it back then.
Mazzy
I do wonder whether we'd still be getting dragged up in this whole mess if Ashworrh wasn't here now. I imagine he's told them where to go.
LV
I’m willing to bet right now that neither Real or Barcelona will be in for him this season.

80
Meh, never had a good feeling about this one since January. I back the club in whatever it does, but decisively and emphatically moving on to a host of other prospects seems like the right move to me.

But I've always considered it to mean unnecessary worrying. That pic [above] makes it look a bit too Hollywood for my liking.

I guess I'm lucky to have avoided the kind of people that cement such an understanding. Seen many a worried Nana, in my time.

Stifler
Aye, he will never get a chance there. PAG will just keep bringing in the big names ahead of him, and if the priest et of going to PSG was real, there was no chance he would have came to us, his agent would have kept upping his demands once we had met them. Hanshithispantz
Bodes well for the players we're going for.
gbandit
Great news, means we don’t have to deal with bullshit come the end of the window. If he turns out great for them then fair play, if he turns out to be shit and gets no game time, also fair play. Was never going to work out for us if he was desperate to move to a big club straight away
Optimistic Nut
Literally going to be learning from the best, and two of the three attacking players are towards the end of their careers. Cracking move for him, squad player this season and if he impresses he might have Messi or Neymar's spot.
et tu brute
7 minutes ago, jack j said: Fair play he's got the move he wanted. Seems like we might have wasted months on someone who just wasn't interested in coming. Obviously I don't know what the conversations were, but his agents comments in January after the deadline day deal broke down, possibly should have seen us walk. At least it's clear now for the rest of the window. Edited July 11 by et tu brute
The Prophet
There was talk he'd be loaned back to Reims, which would make sense for all concerned.
Kimbo
I can’t say I’m too fussed about this, maybe I’ll change my mind in a couple of years. He didn’t look like someone that would make an immediate impact next season.
