Tsunami
He did ok, we didn’t give him much to go at and he won most of his headers. He did exactly what was on his tin and we threw away the points with the same old failings. Laschelles needs peddled.
xLiaaamx
As I thought. Nowhere near Wilson in quality. A young striker would be so much more useful. We've succumbed to PFM logic.

He was isolated and he's neither technical nor fast enough (slow as fuck) to do anything himself. Piss Poor! Miggy would be a waste of time, you need someone who'll pick up the knockdowns and plant them in the net. Almiron would just spin round twice and then pass it to the full back. Willock would be the one, but not sure if he even wants to be here right now.

AyeDubbleYoo
Think he did what he does fairly well, but he didn’t get any decent service that would allow him to threaten to score. Not sure what the plan was with that. That said, it did unsettle Watford that we had someone to aim for and it did seem to encourage some of our players to play more dangerous passes. Fantail Breeze
That was one of the most underwhelming debuts I can remember in a while. But, he’s had about two days and will inevitably improve, I hope.

That's a fair assessment, he wasn't great, but I don't really see what else he could do, he's a finisher who gets on the end of stuff. There wasn't really much for him to attack today. Abacus
He's been out of form, reportedly carrying a knock, playing in an unfamiliar team with a different system, and then thrown straight in. I think he needs a bit more time before making judgements. I do know we don't have time, but that's on us, not him. If Gayle had been fit, I expect he might have been played instead, with Wood on as a 70 min sub. Long term (well mid term), maybe that will be his best role, coming on to change the style of play if we're behind, with set pieces etc. We'll see. snabelkabel
Must be the most expensive piece of wood in all of history.. Does it even burn? Edited January 15, 2022 by snabelkabel
matta
One of the worst debuts i've seen. Did fuck all.
andycap
Isn't it the job of the wingers to find him with passes? And get him involved in build up play, which I saw nothing at all from frazer and maxi all game. Totally isolated him I think.
Shadow Puppets
I thought he was alright. That was the consensus around me too. Won quite a lot of aerial challenges and held up play pretty well. But didn’t really find himself in any threatening positions.

andycap
Seems to be the problem with these wingers they seem to cut inside by default and shoot. Not like a Keith Gillespie type that would whip in constant balls for the striker to attack.

Skeletor
We've only kept two clean sheets this season (in normal time), and both were when this lad was up front for the other team...
Guest reefatoon
That £25m price tag is going to weigh heavy around his neck as he is in no way a £25m striker. If we picked him up cheap then it would probably feel quite an astute signing, but he will end up on a hiding to nothing with that price tag. Thiago
We need to be willing to throw crosses in for this lad to thrive. Given how often we find Maxi shut out, we need to be using those moments to switch it quickly to the right and get Fraser/Trippier whipping it in. Or supply anyone for that matter.

We know he's good in the air, but they defended against him pretty well tbh. There was only two threats up front, Max and him, and once they nullified them, they didn't really have to worry about anyone else, most of our players like standing back and watching. Tsunami
As I’ve posted elsewhere, he did ok, won most of his headers and had no real service. He performed as I expected. We’ve got him in and now need to get Lascelles out and also somehow manage to upgrade Longstaff and ideally Shelvey. ASM, goal aside, was pretty anonymous and has to contribute more (I know it’s a contradiction as he’s scored a few but he’s been nowhere near his previous level). Guest Biggsbond14
Can’t blame wood for today not one player gave him the ball either from a cross or anything to feet in 90 whatever minutes, he had nothing behind him to find him all struggling because 5hey are shit/ devoid of confidence. For me the formation and/or the players we have don’t help and that includes Wilson who rarely gets a ball to him from midfield
Awaymag
ASM so doesn't want to be a right winger. How many times today did he have a change to run ahead but instead cut inside of the man with the ball. Great talent but he is not a winger and he doesn't want to be a winger, so dont play him as a winger!
Super Duper Branko Strupar
I'd struggle to criticise a player playing his first game after one training session, personally. He only got up here a couple of days ago I'd understand the argument perhaps that you then dont play him, but even not understanding how the team plays and where to be I'd rather have him in the box than Gayle.
