ponsaelius
I think it's fair to separate that he is a relatively poor PL player with the fact that, considering the very specific circumstances, he's still been a good signing.
ponsaelius
Barnes was definitely the target man for Burnley. Wood was basically a poacher with an aerial threat.
Pilko
Crap today but he's probably knackered, played the full 90 every single game since he signed.

Hanshithispantz
I thought it was one of his better games visually tbh As a team we consistently see things break down in the final third, he contributes to this but everything is exasperated when our wide forwards carry very little threat. Klaus
He gets the ball stuck under his feet too often. Not as effective a target man as I had expected tbh, but it was never going to be easy for him today.

Wood has won the most aerial duels in the league this season, though, which suggests he has been used as a target man to me. It's his passing and close control in transitional play that generally let's him down.
Hanshithispantz
He wins a lot in the air but I never notice it as he rarely makes anything of it. It's probably still effective in some mad stats geek way but I deffinitely don't get old school target man vibes from him.
ElDiablo
Second touch is a tackle masterclass from him today. He works hard and is smart tactically/positionally though, so you can't knock him too much.
TRon
I sometimes wonder if you stuck Schar up front whether he would look any worse. I mean that's slightly tongue in cheek, but his first touch is usually terrible.
HaydnNUFC
Ball didn't stick to him today. Poor.
AyeDubbleYoo
To be fair to him, Chelsea are pretty much the best team at picking players second balls from any kind of poor touch. He was poor today but it was a very though task.

Holloway
Had a stinker today after his joy the other night. Had we been missing his input for the last 8 games and had Maxi or Gayle up top instead we would still be scrabbling about for points
Newcastle Fan
His contributions to our run are highly appreciated but he really needs to pick up his game, he works hard but lacks so much basic footballing ability, can't pass, can't shoot, can't dribble and can't hold up the ball properly on the ground, i guess years of playing for Burnley does that for you. Shearergol
I’m quite happy to accept him in the team this season and us staying up, but if he’s even on the bench next season it’ll be a massive failure. Such an average player.

Guest
Thought yesterday was his poorest game since he arrived. Nothing stuck or went to one of our players all game. Hopefully being up against a defence more his level on Thursday will bring something back.

Going up against that Chelsea back lines a different kettle of fish as you say but he’s played full 90 for the last 10 games or so.
