Love him even more for posting a pic of him having missed a penalty.

He was doing the hand up apology thing to the crowd during the post-game lap n'all. Was obviously gutted.

So long as it's not his Ginola vs Dixon moment, it should be alright.

In a way, these were the perfect circumstances for him to make a fuck up, so there's a silver lining in there...

I’m sure he does that exact run up every time and bangs them in. Hence why he was 5th. His post suggests he’s automatic. But carry on armchair football fans banging about his run up.

he doesn’t need to apologize for anything. He’s fucking mint.

FYI he says on the post that it was his first ever professional penalty miss! I don't know the stats, but, can't recall he ever missing one before.

To think he’d call you Hod too. Infuriating for you.

Watched the penalty, and was shocked to see he missed it above the bar as loads of other players have done. Reading the forum you’d think he made a spin running towards the ball and then panenka’d it over the stadium.

Google translates as:

“It's about being a hero and a villain, always living the good side of history, I'm tired of taking decisive penalties and doing and today for the first time I had the misfortune of missing my first penalty, horrible feeling!“

You’re already set in Tyneside folklore bro! now go and show the blues who’s boss on Saturday  :indi:

It makes absolutely no footballing sense to do a stutter run up: you have no momentum, you’ve already used up more energy than you need to, it gives you extra time to think, you probably can’t time how you come onto the ball well so its difficult to gauge quite how much power you need to generate. Needs fucking outlawing before it happens again at NUFC. I think players do it thinking it’s going to lessen their nerves as they can slow down and speed up when they want to and feel more in control but it does the absolute opposite

A few modern footballers could do with a night in watching ray Stewart (West ham late 70s early 80s) taking penalties. Sharp run up smash the ball past the keeper either way. Sometimes the keeper ended up in the back of the net if they were unlucky enough to get a touch. Hope Bruno's better at changing nappies than taking penalties!
