History will show their average crowd rose by 600 whilst Di Canio was there however.

Aye, just checked this.

Di Canio was in charge for five home games

Average for the five games before Di Canio was appointed - 40,745

Average for Di Canio's five home games - 41,538

No surprise to see they are talking out of their hoop.

To be fair, thousands may have walked away.........but were replaced by more. Or may e the North Sea was quiet that year and there was a year of fewer deaths on Wearside.

Fuck me, Di Canio was only in charge for 13 games and some bloke got him tatooed on their back!

We really are their world [emoji38]

Really? Fucking hell I thought he was there for something like 9-12 months. They really did bring him in for the manager bounce against us didn’t they?

It was that period where we played them 3 or 4 games running each time with a new manager. Weird bastards.

As in 'real life', they'll be hoping the "near Newcastle" tag garners them some attention, coat-tail chasing scruffs
