Even with a few new bodies I saw absolutely nothing to suggest they'd stay up. The gulf in quality between prem and champo has never been bigger. Be surprised if they get 20 points.

Anything is possible naturally, but Leicester and Southampton both came up last season having just had long spells in the top flight, with Leicester having won the League and FA Cup not that long ago, and they've both come up and had historically bad seasons, with a much much higher base than Sunderland. It will be a massive struggle for them next season, especially given their squad is so young.

I agree, I mean I guess there’s no pressure on them but other than some spirited performances early on when the sun is out they’ll get mullered.

Any point in playing the 25/26 season? As I understand it, all the teams are worthless and Sunderland will take home the league on 114 points.

The gap between the Premier League and Championship is enormous and this lot are bobbins. They'll be getting pumped more often than not.

Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton have pretty poor fan bases like, these and Leeds have decent ones and the home atmospheres will be good. That will be make a slight difference.

 

Feel like all this Southampton comparison is well off, its a freak season for a team to get a points total that small, it hardly ever happens.

 

Sunderland aren't starting next season with the same 11 as they finished this, theyll get players in, absolutely no guarantee whatsoever theyll go down. Are sides like Forest, Brentford, Bournemouth ( who are going to lose a few big players) really going to have a season as good as this again? West Ham aren't any good, there's evrry chance theyll have a fighting chance.

 

I need to log off like, I'm fuming, already upset the wife as she was saying how good it is that it'll make next sesson interesting with the Derby games as I threw my phone across the room when the second went in.

All, this feel good factor will all seem a distant memory  when they're getting gubbed 4s and 5s every week next season. They'll not think twice about pulling the trigger within 10-15 games and Regis will be jobless. 

 

As long as we don't get them in first 3 or 4 games. Newly promoted teams can occasionally start off well before crumbling so would be a bad time to play them. 

 

They'll be so out of their depth next season not even saying it cos its our rivals. Their keeper is decent and Ballard not a bad centre back but the rest aren't up to it not even convinced by poundland bellingham

it will be a walk in the park like the cup game was. We didn't even have to get out of second gear and it was still the easiest derby win I've ever seen. That team has not one player who is premier league standard. The only thing that I didn't want is them getting the parachute payments when they go down, as mean they might become a yo-yo club instead of slipping further into oblivion.

Bollocks to missing the derbies. Would gladly have never had one again and it faded to something akin to Boro. Every game's a big game for us now. Local disputes are for them and the Ashley era.
