Mowbray?

That is massively uninspiring that.

The thing is, who do they think they were going to get?

Neil got lucky getting the Stoke job, he only just dragged them up, then has had a good start, but that’s all it has been, a good start. We all know how quickly you can fall away on that league, in two weeks they could be in danger at the bottom.

Mowbray's a proper chicken tikka masala, cheddar cheese, can of Carling, plain white shirt of an appointment. Not terrible but not particularly inspiring or good. Imagine he'll keep them safe and in midtable but don't see him being the man for a promotion push.

Always liked Mowbray he was someone that tried to play decent football at a time when the likes of Allardyce, Bruce etc were fauned over. Sadly never quite had enough success to establish himself at the top of the pfm wish list for premier league clubs down the years.

Despite being Boro through and through whenever we've crossed swords with Mowbray he's never shown any bile, Woodgate had one or two sneaky little jibes, and dont dislike him at all.

Wouldn't say he's a sensible appointment because they had no choice but by necessity he'll be okay if they can cope with someone from Boro getting midtable results.

Mowbray will have a brief to steady the ship. How long is his appointment; the locals will soon get on his back. Honestly, they may as well appoint me. Mowbray was finished as a manager years ago, his last stint at ‘boro was just going through the motions. I remember press conferences where he basically had a pleasant chat, smiled and went on his way. If I were a fan I’d be seriously worried about their owners ambitions and financial capabilities.

Why do they think Stoke are a step down by the way? They were far better in a similar length spell in the Premier League than Sunderland were. They didn't go to shit to the extent that they then dropped through the Championship for 4 years. They've a better squad, more chance of making the Play-Offs...

Been wondering the same. When they were both in the PL and a player had a choice - going to Stoke wouldn't have shocked anyone. Yet after being in Div3 for 4years they're a much bigger draw?

Exactly. They're lucky Neil dropped to that level and got them out of League One they should be grateful. Neil is a top 6 level Championship manager.

Rangers with their Champions League money.

Ooooh, let's sign Morelos and with no intention of playing him just so this can happen.

I never really got why there wasn't more of a rivalry between those two clubs. There's not that much distance between them, but their fans always seem more pissed off about Newcastle for some reason.
