I'm surprised more hasn't been made of the bid for Manu Kone, that's something which went under the radar somewhat. It means we are looking to add a DM as well, and assuming we won't up or bid for Kone, then would there be other alternatives for that position?

I hope so.  Bruno has been immense on and off the ball since signing.  Fit as a flea and covers so much ground for someone who is 'slow'.  But I would like to see him get a bit further up the pitch when he can.  Someone sitting deeper, like Shelvey did last season, but who can also cover more ground and offer a better screen to the back 4 would be ideal.

It was probably by design, as Howe was very aggressive with the midfield and bodies getting forward against City.  But I felt like the CB's didn't really get any help from a CM sitting in front of them.

Watford fans on Twitter and the only Watford fan I know, seemed to be suggesting he is best used as an inside left, right or behind the striker.

Yeah he doesn’t look like a Wilson type at all. I’m sure he can cover there if Wilson gets injured

From what I’ve seen he doesn’t look like a no9 striker. More a number 10

Agreed, but perhaps that's how Howe wants his central striker to play in the future? More of a link up player with goals coming from wide? Like Liverpool, or City and Arsenal in previous seasons. Pedro has predominantly played as a central forward in his career so far.

It's why we really need a goalscoring wide player out right. If someone who can finish could get into the positions Miggy has been getting into in this system with service from ASM and Bruno, then they're gonna score 15+ a season for us imo.

Yeah would like to see Bruno a bit further forward sliding those through balls in to Wilson. Looks like Shelvey's injury has made us consider a DM, which is a good thing IMO, it's one position we haven't really got a specialist for, Bruno can play it, but feels like he is prone to the odd late tackle as the pace is frenetic in the PL. I think he's a bit more effective pushed up a bit.

We need a proper DCM like.

Our entire midfield spent 2.5 years playing on the edge of our own area, we've got plenty who can do that role, but Bruno is the best.

Shelvey should be cover for Bruno. Longstaff, Joelinton [also  Bruno while Shelvey is out] We need Willock to be back up to our number 8.

Bruno is a no6 who can step into the no8 position, when they are attacking the box.

Feels to me they've taken the precaution, albeit not that critically [25 minutes in the second half] of taking him off and further are checking the extent, to assess the risk of playing him.

Ordinarily we would have played him the full 90 plus the next game, before doing serious damage. Then we'd send him for a scan.

Bruce- "the boy wanted to play... But unfortunately he's now torn his hamstring for 3 months. It's just bad luck against me"

What I mean is there is every possibility that we've caught it before it becomes an actual problem. We're clearly not taking risks with players' fitness. There is a danger he'll miss Wolves, and he might miss the odd game throughout the season, but I think our priority is for him to not sustain any long term injuries.

Precisely. Bruce would have kept him on til full-time [to defend corners], thinking a rest against Tranmere would be enough for him to go another 90 against Wolves.

?? Not forgetting his round trip driving home in between matches, just to help that muscle tightness!

Yeah, best case scenario is that it’s a precaution because we know how injury prone he is.

Still not great that he can’t complete a game mind.

Whose the interviewer? Puts me in mind of Leo Beenhakker

Good old Jan Åge Fjørtoft who is interviewing. He will probably be seen a lot in PL going forward as Viaplay has rights in the Nordics.
