Rich
“The Chelsea midfielder’s stats for the Euros as a whole are also insane. He was a mainstay for his side, playing in all seven of their matches (alongside only Leonardo Bonucci, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Chiesa) and topped their charts for both passes - 519 attempted, 93% success rate - and also defending - 48 balls recovered and 25 interceptions. The average distance Jorginho covered per game in the Euros was second only to Spain’s Pedri, at 12.35km, as was the total distance covered in possession, 33.12km.” “Jorginho made nearly 13 passes under pressure per 90 last season, which ranks in the top 2% of defensive midfielders in the world of football.” He’s a world-class DM, whichever way you slice it. Though you would imagine he’s on the way down now and I dread to think what he’s on salary-wise.

STM
Jorginho for 2 years to provide cover and experience. He's a very good player and we play with a 3 man midfield, which means you need 6 in your squad IMO. 1 Bruno 2 Joelinton (could be classed as a wide option in a 25 man squad) 3 Longstaff 4 Willock This leaves us 2 short if we bin off Shelvey. There's a high probability that we sign a quality CM for big bucks (Maddison) but we might want another option in there. I know we have been linked with numerous young South American players but I wouldn't be surprised if they were seen as players we could potentially farm out on loan. I'm not entirely convinced we would be in for Jorginho but, I can understand the merit of another experienced CM.

We've been wanting someone to 'free up' Bruno most of the season, get him in and you can push Bruno 20 yards further up the pitch and you still have Joelinton's pressing from the front. Emotic
Edwards seems to be running out of convoluted ways to express the idea of “I know fuck all”. It’s been the same permutation the past few windows - “I don’t think they will sign anyone. But I won’t be surprised if they do.”. Sixth form journalism. Ikon
Quote The Bolavip Brasil report found that a sale has been gaining momentum in recent days and the parties have moved towards an agreement. Attacking midfielder Matheus França is very close to being confirmed as a reinforcement for Newcastle, from England. The English managed to take an important step towards putting things right with the Flemish leaders. Hmmm….? https://br.bolavip.com/flamengo/R-101-milhoes-Flamengo-fica-a-um-passo-de-confirmar-venda-de-meia-atacante-antes-do-Mundial-20221228-0081.html?utm_source=brbolavip_fb&utm_campaign=jor20&utm_medium=fut1001 Quote Quote The negotiation is in the crucial phase for the hammer to be beaten. Still according to our calculation, the values could reach R$ 18 million euros (R$ 101 million in the current quotation). The debate is on how much CRF will receive immediately and how much this amount will be divided depending on the performance of the boy from Ninho do Urubu. Experience counts for nothing unless he would pass that on to the younger players like Trippier does- just can’t see that leadership/senior player role in him to justify the signing. I remember saying something similar when Man U paid £60m for Casimero who is due to turn 31 soon. It's a daft amount of money, but he hasn't half improved their team. He'll give them quality for probably another three seasons minimum. If Howe thinks Jorghino would have a similar impact on us, and he is fit enough to play our pressing game, then could see it happening. We won't be buying any players who don't put in 100% for 90mins.

If Casemiro was a dud or declines rapidly, no doubt they’ll go and spend another £60m on a Fred again. We can’t do the same right now- we have to get the right signings for the money and wages. I just don’t think Jorginho is it, and don’t think media reports are correct. Might be wrong, but just can’t see him fitting here. Who knows though- guess we’ll see. Well I would never have pointed to Jorginho as a potential target either, but if Howe and our scouts think he can take us to another level, and the club have no problem with funding a move, I wouldn't argue. Dan Burn looked a weird move a year ago.
