There are also less urgent changes to be made now but they are also coming in the next season or two. We need a starting LB pretty quickly, BDB can't keep this up forever, Targett's signing in retrospect was possibly a mistake as he doesn't appear to be the kind of fullback that Howe wants, and ASM is not starting as Howe is worried about the defensive capabilities on the left side. Both Trippier and Schar have maybe another season before they will need replacing. We are short of quality midfielders and there is a lack of goals from the current ones, Bruno doesn't get forward enough, Willock doesn't score enough and though Longstaff gets into great positions he misses. Big Joe is playing unbelievably well but whether he carries enough goal threat to play wide left or the skillset to play in midfield long term is questionable. Plus he's just done a very stupid thing. There are some quick fixes to some issues and the players we are linked with have premier league experience so Maddison would be a great addition if we can find a system that works with him as he scores goals and Trossard if he's not the twat that the press are trying to make out would carry a much greater goal threat from the left including ASM. If Almiron carry continue at the level he's at and Isak is as good as we think he is, up front we are pretty solid though the drop down to the level of Wood and Murphy is frightening. I agree on all counts, I'd love Maddison But is he a crock? He seems to be injured a lot

Neves is a fraud, a few long range goals and acceptable stats for his position. Nothing more. People have let his long range goals cloud the picture, much like Tielemans, he was poor against us in both games, I'd have Joelinton any day over him. Like you’d rather have Shelvey come off the bench instead of Neves ffs.

Hanshithispantz
Neves’ stats are great in and out of possession and he was great against us first half atleast. Edited January 14, 2023 by Hanshithispantz

ExiledGeordie
Trossard out of favour at Brighton, I wonder if we’ll test the water there this month?

His agent all over the media saying they’ve fallen out and won’t sign a new deal. De Zerbi openly speaking about it. Seems unlikely that he’ll be returning to the team anytime soon. Would love us to get him, personally. Bit more of a goal threat from wide. You’d imagine he’d fit Howe’s system better than ASM does and he is different to Big/Little Joe. Always thought he was neat and tidy. But maybe lacked a bit when it mattered. But he has some important and brilliant goals to his name the last season and a half. STM
Reckon we will push for a fee below 20m, given the situation. It's the sort of scenario where even if Trossard was pushed out of the first team in the next 12 months, he be a very useful squad player. Similar level to Almiron. We really are keeping our cards close to our chest. I haven't a clue who we are really going to move for.

I’m sure Ashworth will have the inside track or know what type of character he is. If it is true. Then yeah, I doubt we’d waste our time there. LiquidAK
Neves and Trossard are exactly the type of signings City made when they first started to push on - buying the better players of the midtable teams. Would be very happy with either or both. Players like that to boost the quality of the squad supplemented with the occasional worldie like Bruno or Isak is ideal really.
