Tbf - Man City are just different class.  All their players are constantly on the move, and you have a master lock picker in KDB.  I think the 1st goal was poor but the second two were just brilliant movement from City.

With a David Batty and Rob Lee in midfield they wouldn’t have been so dominant in the second half.We stood off, hence the reason they got on top.In stark contrast to the first half.

Says it all that I’m gutted we didn’t win, we were great going forward and went toe to toe with them, defensively we could have done better, but we were 3-1 up against the Champions.

And not only that, we came from 1-0 down

Not to go over the top but that was an utterly corrupt performance from the ref. Wanted every possible margin to go in Man City's favour.

Makes the lads holding out for that point even more admirable. Can't fault any of them one bit. Man City definitely stepped it up a gear in the second half and some of their passing around the box to get through our defence was sublime.

Reversed the offside and the red card so not sure about. City did seem to get the benefit of the doubt though.

I have been one of ASMs biggest critics this season, but he was absolutely outstanding today, it just shows what he can do when a team is arrogant enough to leave him one on one

This season? There's only been 3 games and he's played well in 2 of them.

I’m beginning to think our best bet is to sign a proper specialist DM and a proper specialist attacking mid / winger that’ll offer us the best optionality. Today I’d have loved for a real strong def mid to allow Bruno to get up more. And also an attacking mid like Bernardo Silva who occupies wide but is interplaying with the midfield and getting up field.

This. I’d love to see Bruno further forward like he was when he first came in last season.

There were so many good things going on the Newcastle side.  Man, what a fun game.  I haven't checked the table yet because I just started watching Leeds-Chelsea.

What is most pleasing for me is that it wasnt a fluke. Other times we have been hanging on the line (sure at the end it was a little bit like that) to get a result. This time we at times dominated City. Cant remember we created such big chances against a side with this quality.

Today was a tremendous demonstration of why we must keep hold of ASM. Once we add more quality and teams can’t marshal him as closely as they may like to he’s going to be lethal. He had Walker looking like he’d been on the meths.

I think the fact he said he was listening to Trippier (and by extension probably Howe) about how to improve is huge.

I’ve never been more optimistic about ASM than this moment. He was world class, French national team level today.

Yea, when he got the ball he had their full attention. Seemed to balance making the one on one challenge with a pass instead of always trying the dribble.

They were knackered, playing against the best midfield in world football. Rob Lee would have been chasing shadows today

It's been noticeable in all 3 games so far this season that ASM is trying to pass more.  There have been a bunch of situations where in previous seasons you would have expected him to either carry on dribbling to attempt the shot but instead he's been looking for the pass.  Last week those passes were almost all off target but this week a lot of them found a team mate.  If he can continue he'll have a great season.

Yeah totally agree. I’ve definitely noticed that too.
