I agree but it's probably a bit naive to think that we didn't do something similar when we were chasing Elanga. Osula definitely (unofficially) got involved and helped before things got serious, we can't have it both ways tbh

True but it's still effectively the same thing. Sounding out a target before making any official moves is still tapping up, whether it be using a current employee or Twitter it's doing the same job basically. 

 

Still think we tell Liverpool to fuck clean off and try to sign Ekitike 100%. If we get him then we're golden, if we don't then we've lost nothing and we're no worse off as a result. Isak's not moving this summer and we've got one of the best CFs in world football tied down for the next 3 seasons in black and white. We've lost nothing, we're no worse off in any way

It's not about that, it feels like he's allowing himself to be used as a pawn. If that's what he's chosen that's fine but he's lowered himself if that's the case.

He was asked, and he gave his opinion, yeah? It's not a big deal. Those content farmers will pounce on it like it's a huge thing. He's just saying what he thinks, and remember, he said Newcastle doesn't want to sell, and Liverpool hasn't even made an offer. Content farmers will leave that part out and focus on the juicy stuff. Isak isn't going anywhere this summer, for sure.

Yeah and I don’t see Isak tarnishing his time here by trying to force a move out. Another season in the CL, try and re-qualify for the CL. He knows there’ll be a list of suitors from across the continent next summer and he’ll probably get an increased contract this summer. We’ll still get a boat load of cash next summer if as expected he moves then.

Where did you hear that?  

 

Yasir really needs to step up here if it's true that he wants us to be No . 1  - for us to move forward as a club keeping Isak is a none negotiable.

Hopefully we go down the Spurs route then. Bat the English clubs away by telling them to relentlessly fuck off before selling him abroad when he gets to 30+.

 

We don't need to sell, we're under no pressure to sell and he's got 3 years left on his deal.

 

Sit him down, tell him we intend to pay you like one of the best strikers in the world for the next 5 years and if you aren't satisfied with our progress in 3/4 years time you're welcome to leave, as long as it suits us financially (and is abroad).

 

Stating the obvious but it would be much less of a kick in the cock seeing him play for Barca/Bayern than it would anybody over here - especially Liverpool or Arsenal.
