Is this Liverpool's version of "we tried" by the way?

Bet they regret signing Ekitike now. Could have stepped aside for him, fair chance we'd have potentially accepted something close to what they bid for Isak if we'd already had Ekitike on the books.

Been my theory from the start that the Ekitike bid was part of our ‘Isak’ strategy.

My view on our strategy this summer is that we have been on the defensive from the outset, knew what to expect and from who.  Selling Isak for 130m plus and replacing him with an 80m plus player is good business but it doesn’t really make a huge dint in our PSR thresholds, especially with sell on for Sociedad and add ons for incomer.

Liverpool really have our number. Rattling Gordon last summer and Isak now.

£110m is a serious enough offer that they know we would never accept but that gets under Isak’s skin and throws off the start of our season.

How do they have our number?

The Gordon situation was of our own making. Was it not us who offered Gordon to them?

As far as Isak goes, we hold the cards. Pay us what we want or you dont get him. Simple as.

I can smell a transfer request - what a farce

Don't see what difference that makes. Everyone knows he wants the move anyway.

Get back from Korea and then Eddie’s going to have to sit him down and tell him to get his head out of his arse.

I’d try and get him on the field for one of the Sela games.

Sounds like they are briefing everyone

Thing is, I wouldn't believe a word of what Liverpool leak to their minions in the press. Remember 2 weeks ago when they briefed everyone with the line "Give us Isak, otherwise we'll hijack the Ekitike deal"

We can't really give him a new deal either would send the wrong message to the other lads.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Main focus should be performance, if we don't do well in Champions league we'll be losing a lot of money we need for PSR. And as shit as things are, a contract with a rather hefty release clause is probably the best way to motivate him to perform. Doing it because he loves Newcastle would be preferred, but we know we aint there.

He's going to be injured 5 minutes after he steps onto the training pitch with Beg Jow.

I’d tell Isak at this point you either sign a new contract on the max we can afford, with a 150 million buy out option for teams abroad. Alternative you’ll be on 150k for the next 3 years and we are happy to let you go for nowt in 3 years.

I think he’ll put pen to paper by the end of September at the latest.

Make him warm up for the entire second half of Espanyol (tickets still available) and not being him on
