Getting "Treatment"

That will be the PR run if he's brought back in. He's been slowly nursing that all pre-season, and whilst bid did come in for him from Liverpool, Isak was always focussed on Newcastle and returning in best fitness he can be.

I wasn't sure whether he was going to turn up at all, so I'm taking some encouragement from this. The timing seems right - I imagine he'll meet with Eddie tomorrow, with the possibility of joining the squad on Wednesday when they all regroup.

I think the main power-axis at the club now is the Eddie - Yasir relationship, and they're both agreed that he won't be leaving this window. Isak's reaction is impossible to predict, but I think they've reached this decision and are prepared to deal with whatever consequences arise.

And FWIW, I think they're doing the right thing.

"I was concentrating on recovery for my thigh strain, and no the reports didn't faze me. I knew I had to get back to full fitness to be playing again, and the thing to do is to ignore all that noise around me. Which I did, honest."

Don't worry while it's embedding, it's fine.

Wow, so it is possible to do this.

Probably pasta'd the wannabe Bruno Di Gradi in the face when he tried to tweet about it.

Only embedding required with Romano is a knife between his ribs.

I pretty much echo Shearer’s comments.

Thanks for the memories, but if you are not invested in the club get as much as possible for him and get it done quickly.

an unhappy player causes nothing but unrest and issues throughout the squad.

Different times now though. The figures involved and PSR stacked against us. The timing of the news and targets already missed in the window. I still back Isak to pull his socks up. Even if just for 12 months.

Shearer can be thick at times. Wouldn’t let him guide your thinking.

Alan Shearer has spoken out about Alexander Isak's behaviour this summer.

Speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast, the Toon legend said: "No, I’m not angry at all towards him.

"I understand how football works, I know what happens in and around the game.

“I probably understand his mentality. Do I like it? Do I understand it? Probably two different things.

“But I know what football is about and I know how it works, and obviously Liverpool have been into him or his agent.

“I just thought it might have happened next year and if it really is impossible for Eddie to turn him around and he says no, and it sounds like that is the case, I want him to be out now, you get your big money for him, whoever’s prepared to pay that and you get other people in, hopefully beforehand, and then you move on.

“As I said, no individual is bigger than any football club, and if he doesn’t want to be there, fine, get what you can and get him out and say thanks very much for the memories, off you go.”
