Who do we think actually wrote that statement btw? Given the nature, i'm assuming it has to have come from someone like Rueben, or it was written by a PR guy and had to signed off by Rueben?

I'm sure the Saudis have a litany of very expensive PR people at their disposal.

Whoever was on the late shift in the legal department.

He can go on about broken promises all he wants. The reality is, the club's valuation has not been met.

Him, his agent and Liverpool can't bend us over on this one.

His desired club have fucked him up the ass twice. Once by buying Ekitike; then secondly by buying a completely unproven and untested Wirtz for £117m to raise Isak’s value to a stratospheric level.

Ideally we loan out Osula or sell someone we don't use much ( we only currently have one space left for the 25 man squad if a signing is over 21) and we get two strikers in anyways if he is going to continue this strop

Can't see that happening tho, we will sign Wissa or someone else and be hoping he reintegrates into the squad once the window shuts

We have to figure out a way to make it work.

We can't go into the season with one striker and waiting on Isak.

That would be such a mess man. It's a Champions League season and there are too many games to play.

Any kind of knock or injury to the one striker and we're looking stupid if this clown Isak is still all over the place.

Sign one striker that we have the money for and find another with something about them that we can loan.

For the loan, try and maybe do a deal with one of the Saudi clubs with PIF ties if there's no one realistic or decent enough option in Europe. Just as an example that young Brazilian striker we were linked with when he was in Brazil, Marcos Leonardo, is at Al-Hilal and has done very well there, he looked really good in the club world cup and scored a double against Man City, he was very highly rated in Brazil when he was younger and we were supposedly looking at him. He gets paid around £90,000 a week in Saudi, which is not an impossible wage to cover as a realistic loan.

Figure something out and position the club to where we are not dependent on this muppet in any kind of way. It puts more pressure then on both Isak and Liverpool.

FWIW he posted this in mid March. Absolutely spot on with it as well. I know people don't like him but he's clearly not as stupid/unconnected as we might think.

100% copilot.

I also did not want a statement but what they have released strikes a good balance between setting out the clubs position to avoid Isak's message being the sole narrative whilst also offering conciliation.

The latter is needed given the likelihood Isak stays with us increases by the day and offering no conciliation weakens our negotiating position.

The icing on the cake would have been one extra line....

P.S. Well done on your PFA team of the year award mate, we're super proud of you.

You just know them Scouse cunts will come armed with some bullshit chant about us holding him hostage come Monday night.

SJP needs to be an absolute cauldron of noise, hammer the Liverpool players at every touch.

The players will be bang up for it, if the crowd can match it, we'll take them to the cleaners I reckon.

Just reflecting on the Fettuccine Felcher’s Twitter posts last night. I don’t think there’s anyone in the media I’ve even remotely detested as much as Romano.

This is a “personality” (using the term very fucking generously as there are single celled organisms with more charisma than this gabagool) who appears to have made it his summer’s mission to get a person he’s never even met a move to another club. The way he’s pushing so hard on this - I’m not going in like this unless money has changed hands.

Really hope someone inside his circle goes full scorched earth on him and blows the lid on the fraudulent operation he’s running.

He was definitely out in the cold when Bruce was shit canned - guess he got lazy and felt he didn't need to diversify when he was already the managers mouthpiece.

To the weirdos credit he does seem to have done some real life jouranlisming and cultivated some sources in the new regime.

We just need to bring in one good quality striker along the Wissa/Jackson category as a Wilson replacement. We can't worry about replacing Isak if there are no strikers of that calibre available. Get the Wilson replacement in as of yesterday, and then we can at least put out a winning team while Isak gets himself fit to return to the fold in the next few weeks.

This seems unfair tbh. I'm sure many of us have been in positions where we've been the good soldier on the basis of reopening contract positions at a specified future point in time.

I know fans are tribal and will back club > player every time, but I wouldn't be surprised if the club had fucked him on pay.

That doesn't excuse his response at all but I doubt the club's hands are clean either.

I genuinely wouldn't back the club every time, in this case it's because Isak's behaviour has been so shit.

If the reports of Staveley offering a contract then Mitchell reneging are true then it's shit, but it lines up with Mitchell generally being a disaster, he's gone, and Isak has been offered an improved contract.

Even then, none of it means he can just walk out on an existing 6 year contract with 3 years left on it.

I think statement was firstly well written and secondly important to make. That pretty much puts end to all bs about promises etc.

But I agree with Simon Jordan, should have been done long ago.

They couldn’t. They’d paved the path for Isak to return fairly easily. EH had handled everything perfectly to facilitate this without the need to escalate to club statements.

Isak and his reps chose the other path last night and the club responded perfectly not only with its words not closing doors on remaining or him getting his wish but its timing.

Aye, that tweet last night was repugnant, never any clearer evidence that he's on the payroll somewhere.

As to the club statement itself, it's basically been my position from the start, so I am obviously very happy with it.

We are NUFC, our objectives should always be to protect our interests, not further those of another club or any players individual desires.

I don't have Twitter anymore as its a cespit. What did the guys say last night? Guessing it was full on gushing at Isak's statement, and barely a mention of the clubs?
