Hopefully it's nothing because physically this is the best he's been for some time and it's no coincidence he's hitting his best form. There's never been a doubt about his talent it's just his fitness record that's held him back since he got here. It's why the eternal pessimist in me is just trying to enjoy this run while it lasts because he's broken down so many times in the past I always half expect it. But if we can manage his fitness till the end of the season he's on for a hell of a campaign. He and Tonali actually give me a glimmer of hope we could turn over Liverpool if we reach the final. Without him, unfortunately we have to expect our form will drop off again. Who's saying he's got a tight hamstring?

mattypnufc Posted yesterday at 07:14 Share Posted yesterday at 07:14 Sadly this is what happens when the perennial crock Wilson forces Isak to play 100% of the time. Hopefully it’s just fatigue. More than a weeks worth of rest now all being well.

Getting a winger who can play forward in Jan would really help. We can probably get past Wolves without him if he needs extra rest and then have him for Bournemouth at home. Cronky Posted yesterday at 08:40 Share Posted yesterday at 08:40 I think he's the most valuable player in the world right now. With lone striker systems as standard practice, ones who don't have a significant weakness are like gold dust. Add to that his incredible skill on the ball, you really have someone unique. How he managed to dig that shot out to make the second goal, I don't know.
sushimonster85 Posted yesterday at 08:54 Share Posted yesterday at 08:54 Genuinely think he has priced himself out of a move anywhere. Imagine soon pundits will start talking about the need for 'clubs' (us) to be more realisitic in their valuation of players in these PSR restricted days. If he doesn't get a move to one of the cartel 6 in the Summer Sky will be livid.

They should take a look at Andy Carroll. I only watched their games against us this season, but if this is indeed how Arsenal play now, it is not Isak they need, but a modern day Rory Delap, who could do a long throw-in. AyeDubbleYoo Posted yesterday at 09:36 Share Posted yesterday at 09:36 He’s almost like a vortex that shapes the game around him. When he has space he gets the ball and kills the defenders, when they push up high he runs in behind. If they aren’t strong on crosses he gets in the box and gets tap-ins and headers. Lad is ridiculous.

mattypnufc Posted yesterday at 09:38 Share Posted yesterday at 09:38 My state caused a bit of a debate in our chat, where does Isak rank for us overall for strikers? He’s third in my top 3 currently.

I agree with Henry Winter tbh. His valuation is unrealistic. More like 200m.

alexf Posted yesterday at 10:03 Share Posted yesterday at 10:03 (edited) In modern inflation times, with the sort of fees that have gone round for average players. I don't see how £150m for arguable the best all round striker in the world with age on his side and potential to improve further can be in anyway unrealistic? If anything it still probably under values him, especially his importance to us. In the last few years alone we have seen people like Antony and Hoijlund go to Man U for £80-90m. Mount aswell was like £70m. Grealish obviously another one £100m. Caiceido and Enzo as deep lying midfielders £120m each was it? Rice £100m Alvarez £90m? So if you add on the extra for the fact strikers historically always go for more as they are the ones that scored the goals, plus the fact there is a lack of top level strikers in Europe these days. It really isn't an unfair fee. If anyone is saying so in the media it is out of pure resentment that he plays for us and not one of the sky darlings. kingxlnc Posted yesterday at 10:11 Share Posted yesterday at 10:11 Isak is our Salah, Aguero, etc - the CF you need for a reliable source of goals to win you things. That's priceless tbh - £150m sounds like a lot but replacing him may need 2 or 3 players We say Grealish and Bale were let go which helped the transition but neither of those clubs have won anything. Coutinho's sale which was £143m I think (which is ridiculous looking back) - is the right sort of level - and that was 7 years ago. Today, 143M would be closer to 185M. That's more accurate. KaKa Posted yesterday at 10:16 Share Posted yesterday at 10:16 One of the funniest things yesterday, was the silence and dread that came over the Arsenal fans when he got the ball down the channels and squared up their defenders or when he dropped into a bit of space and got on the ball. He was so good yesterday man. My goodness. They were so fearful of him on the pitch and in the crowd! Arsenal fans have gone from cockily saying a bid of £80 million should do the trick over the summer, to now demanding their club pays whatever we ask for
Cristov Posted yesterday at 10:38 Share Posted yesterday at 10:38 Why the fuck would Isak want to go to arsenal to be their Henry regen when he can be our Isak. Every week getting compared to Henry would do your head in.

Benwell Lad Posted yesterday at 10:53 Share Posted yesterday at 10:53 (edited) Wyn Davies was the first great centre forward I saw in the flesh, after him Supermac and of course Shearer were the stand outs. Mentions for Goddard, Demba Ba, Cisse and Rondon too, amongst others. All great strikers. Of course Shearer was the best but I am now going to say that, in my opinion, Izak is the best No.9/striker I have watched in a Newcastle shirt. AJ9 Posted yesterday at 11:23 Share Posted yesterday at 11:23 In my lifetime, he is up there with Shearer. All round, probably a better player. As a pure striker/finisher, Shearer was better.
Dan Gleebals Posted yesterday at 11:30 Share Posted yesterday at 11:30 Sorry but all the Arsenal talk needs to stop. They are a nothing club. He is adored here, by fans and players and is an integral part of a team that looks like it will only get better. He will as well. Yes we need to win something, yes we need CL and yes we need to invest - all very important in matching a player of his ambitions and talent. He knows he is in a very good team, and with a few additions over the next season or two, and we are challenging for the top - he could be part of that history. He is a humble guy, and intelligent, so he gets that. I really feel like we should double his wages, add a year or two on his contract and build the whole club and team around him. He is that good. Chris_R Posted yesterday at 12:07 Share Posted yesterday at 12:07 What a player. Absolutely sublime. In my all-time list of Newcastle strikers he's gone above Mick Quinn now, and just behind David Kelly.
