Perfect scenario for us to be honest.

Let the typical clubs make noises about going into it, let all the stuff about it devaluing the Premier League come out. Then we can go to the Premier League saying if they eased PSR rules, we’ll stand by them and help them tie up sponsorships to outlive it.

Just on Martins's speed. He could have been as fast or as slow as he liked, he was pretty much useless at using it to his advantage. Can't really remember him ever using it in the same way someone like Bale, Walcott, Traore did. Loved him at the time for a bit but he was a strange player like.

We also seemed iirc to play a lot of aerial balls direct to him which felt odd because he's like 5'6.

Martins was fast in behind the defensive line but didn't see him beat players 1v1 through pace the way others did.

 

His most impressive attribute was how two-footed he was. Not seen a more two-footed player for Newcastle and must be top 5 in the PL.

 

Short and uninspired PL career. But I loved how Ivan Perisic could take inswinging and outswinging corners whenever he wanted.

Think they blew their only chance at starting an actual superleague last time, probably cursed words like  

 

Too much ill will, some clubs might try and sign up again but I think there's a decent chance governments get involved if they try to do it again.

They're not proposing a super league this time, they're proposing an "improved" replacement for the Champions, Europa and Conference League(s). No longer will they be ran by UEFA, instead they will be ran by UEFA – AND – A22...  

 

Who it's "improved" for, however, is anyone's guess. Based on skimreading the full proposal (https://a22sports.com/download_file/view/12c5626f-8625-4597-b4c4-539f43839e45/) it does appear to improve things for the exact clubs that wanted a Super League, whilst doing nothing to improve things for any clubs not playing in the top division of the tournament, the "Star League"  

 

Essentially they have just included the Europa League and Conference League into a bid to redesign the Champions League into their Super League, it's dumb and it will fail.

Aye, scored a pen with his left and right foot. The only other player to do that to my knowledge, Bobby Zamora.

Santi Cazorla probably the best when it came to being two footed.  Think he may have even scored, or at least come close to scoring a free kick on his weaker peg.  Would take corners and free kicks off both.

Great leap for a little guy, though.  The problem was, much like his first touch and shooting.  You didn't know where it was going.

 

One of my favourite NUFC players, mind.  My list of favourite players is very odd.  The XI I would pick would get absolute pelters, I reckon.

Ginola was more or less equally brilliant with both feet as well. Agree Cazorla is the best I've seen with both feet.

One of those players who improved our chances literally just by having his name on the teamsheet. Even if he played shite, which was possible. You're absolutely right in what you say but I think his pace and explosiveness scared teams regardless. 

 

I absolutely loved him when he was here; one of many I'd have loved to have seen in another era. The Spurs goal, the home leg against Alkmaar, the iconic partnership with Sibierski - all good stuff.

Son has scored 121 PL goals with his feet. 72 with his right foot, 49 with his left. That is impressive.

 

I think he scored more goals with his left than right the year he won the Golden Boot.

 

For comparison Jamie Vardy has 125 PL goals with his feet. 91 with his right, 34 with his left. Which is actually pretty good. Aguero has 150 goals with his right foot and 34 with his left or similar.

If it's still the same shite they proposed last time, it would ruin it it for any team not already in the top bracket in their league. When us and Villa finished fourth, we would have been out in their equivalent of the Conference League IIRC, because the top two leagues are there to protect the ones already at the top.

Once in the top tier of this 'unified league' , only the bottom one or two drops out, and only if they don't finish high enough in their domestic league or something stupid like that. 

So for us, we would have had to have finished top 4, then finished at worst runners up two seasons in a row to get to the 'CL' Utterly ridiculous system that will never work.

As I understood their presentation (don't take my word gospel, only skimmed through it 😅) it's essentially still that, except now there's more teams playing in the meaningless divisions below the "Super League" division. I find it baffling how some people genuinely can be so fucking out of touch with the rest of the world, let alone their customers
