Norseman Posted yesterday at 08:17 Share Posted yesterday at 08:17 That sounds awful. Hopefully he'll recover fully from that. Something like this was bound to happen at some point with the rule on late offside flags.

Leemond
11 years ago today. Taken from Fans Forum meeting. "Do the club not think it is worth a cup run next season?" The board outlined research into Premier League clubs in relation to domestic cup competitions in the last five years, with Swansea City the only club outside the traditional top six to win a domestic cup and not be relegated in the same season (Birmingham and Wigan Athletic were both relegated). Independent research into the cost of relegation over the past ten years showed there is a 50% chance of not gaining promotion back to the top flight and a 30% chance of being relegated to League One or further. In addition, if clubs do return to the Premier League, it takes four years on average" Edited 19 hours ago by Leemond

La Parka
To be fair I don't think diagnosis of acute abdominal trauma is in a sports physios remit. So club doctors attend games? Hopefully they managed to fix his bowel. Not sure if it's possible to be a footballer with a stoma. Edited 17 hours ago by La Parka
duo
They need to change this rule not raising flag straight away - he wouldn't have been injured if they had
Bimpy474
Just a point, Forest only made 3 subs. There can be an argument over the 3 substitution windows being too restrictive, however ignoring that for another day. Surely when a player is clearly injured, a sub outside the sub windows should be permitted, not just for concussion. I guess that will throw up a 'are they really injured' argument. I do wonder if a discussion was had with the fourth official, to see if they could make another sub.

Should we start a conversation about potentially removing those and have instead VAR decide whether a shot had been inside the digital goal posts? 80
I'm a contender for the biggest VAR hater on this forum but I don't see this injury as being a solid argument against it. It could've happened at any point in the match ultimately, just like Given's did.
Yorkie
I don't see how it can be anything other than a dreadful look for VAR imo. It's outright proof that it's existence increases the likelihood of injuries. Not by a lot, obviously; it's a pretty uncommon event. But the fact is, if it doesn't exist then the guy doesn't rupture his intestine.

Take your point, but personally think all the furore over VAR making players run more and increasing risk of injury directly and indirectly (because they’re unnecessarily more tired) is pretty ridiculous. Such a relatively small additional amount of routine play, ignores rest periods whilst they work out the correct decision, and basically anything that happens is a possible outcome of playing competitive sport. Kid Icarus
If it's the first time that it's happened in 6 years, surely that's proof that it doesn't increase the liklihood of injuries?
Optimistic Nut
Forest on the attack, linesman incorrectly flags for offside and Leicester get a free-kick. Leicester go on the attack and Vardy smashes into the goalpost from an attack which could have been prevented if VAR was in play to give the officials a second glance. Who's to blame or are both instances just freak accidents? Edited 3 hours ago by Optimistic Nut
Froggy
Agreed to both of the above posts. I find it quite bizarre people are putting the blame on VAR with this. There's been plenty of accidents in football long before VAR.
