Granted, this one got me because it's essentially just a remixed version of a song that was part of the soundtrack of my youth and the first local parties a younger me attended, with the original being sung at the top of everyone's lungs both before going out and when getting back in for the afters. The fun thing about that original rap remix having been part of the soundtrack of my youth is that it had also been the soundtrack of the youth for two generations before me, only then in its original form. Rather obviously, nobody below 65° north had the same experience as everyone above it. Kinda miffed it'll now be attached to the club in the region that, on paper, is the club I'm supposed to hate from a "support your local club" perspective (though my hometown has never had a club rise higher than the 2nd tier over here, and even that only lasted two seasons). Anyway, prepare to be underwhelmed by the actual thing after reading the build-up: Here's a rather horrible attempt at translating the lyrics in a way that doesn't lose most of its context – even though it genuinely doesn't work in any other form than in its original Northern Norwegian dialect Hell, even just changing its written lyrics from Northern Norwegian into Standard Norwegian removes most of the magic... which makes sense, as it was never intended as something other than a love letter to Northern Norway, from Northern Norway. All that said, here's a shit attempt anyway: Quote You never left, but your hands were tied. Stayed quiet, biding time as the storms passed by. Figured out how not to drown, as the whole North kept your name around. Willing to sacrifice it all, 'cause we give you our all. You're not one to start something to let it die – We know what you speak of, Bodø! Nordaførr! (Far up North!) Where we belong! Caring so much we carry it on and on, A place where there's nothing you can’t say, so shout, holler, chase down your goals! We’re just a couple of men with nothing left to lose, Far up North! Far up North! Sidenote; how young must the artists have been way back when they first dropped the remix?
