On reflection, one “goal” I remember celebrating more than any other non-Spurs goal was the Campbell one against Argentina that got disallowed. Hoddle’s probably my all-time football hero and he was absolutely brilliant orchestrating things on the sideline that day, and then for it to be Campbell as well. Went straight to the pub outside work (HMV Oxford Circus) for the game, and me and an Arsenal fan (Jeff) were going absolutely mental when it went in. So gutted.

 

Can’t remember if I said it but the Beckham Greece freekick too. Mainly environment - we were in the Old Queens Head in Islington (I played football for them too) and it was just absolute bedlam. Think that was the day someone shouted “siddown Carver” because Mark Wingett was standing in front of a screen, but it was definitely the day the owner’s wife got her tits out while standing on the bar after the game.

A lot of Messi’s goals and performances, especially in the champions league, honestly made me proud of humanity 

 

I actually got emotional watching him at times even though it was very far away from my own club.

If I'd have gotten £1 for every near-record breaking transfer signing for Chelsea that end up getting banned for drug use, I'd have £2 and not know if any other club in one of the top European leagues since the start of the 90s have even had one big-money transfer banned for drugs

Mutu was very likely stitched up tbf. You only need to see the videos of Chiesa and Barkley to see how much of a non-issue alleged recreational, non-PED drug use can be seen as if it suits.

I’m convinced football is rife with doping, especially at certain clubs. Liverpool already face accusations of claiming most of their players are asthmatic so they can give them a drug for asthma that is used for performing enhancing methods.

 

I do think recreational drugs are not used as much though. A blind eye might be given to performance enhancing, but if you are at the wrong club, and take recreational drugs, that privilege isn’t given.
