Should have a time limit and do the countdown thing refs do when keepers have it, the throw in goes to the other side if they go over the limit

Said that at the game. Keepers get penalised for 8 seconds whilst one throw in nearly took a minute and a goal kick took around 45 seconds. 10 Seconds for each and 30 for free kicks.

Not sure i have seen since the first few weeks of the season the 8 second rule being anywhere close to be refereed on.

It's almost as if the ref association have thought against it.

They need to make the game flow better and the time taken on throw ins, all set pieces is killing the spectacle

Was it not enforced in our match yesterday?

Think my stream had a moment and I'm sure the commentators mentioned it

It did yeah. Typical it would be us like.

Totally agree though with the time taken on set pieces. Maybe not 8 seconds but it takes Arsenal well over 40 seconds for every set piece, it all adds up. I feel like when the scores are level time wasted is never added on, like it somehow only applies when a team is blatantly wasting time.

Totally agree that there should be a time limit but isn't the difference here that technically the game isn't dead when it's in the keepers hands but when it's a throw in the clock should have been stopped?

I don’t think the refs do stop the clock for throw ins and goal kicks.

Time keeping as a whole seems a joke and should be more transparent.

For example Thaiw got injured in extra time long enough for me to walk down from my seat and nip to toilet and back without missing any action so I’m guessing 2mins at the bare minimum but most likely 3+mins. That period alone had a throw in that took an age as they messed about and a couple of goal kicks minimum which they delayed.

The ref only added 2mins (minimum rember!) of added time yet blew the whistle and the stadium clock was on 1:58

It’s fairly obvious refs just make it up rather than any exact science or calculation behind it.

However, if you stopped the clock every time there was a throw in we’d be adding 15 minutes to every game. There were 53 throw ins during our game at the weekend, even just 15 seconds per throw in would see an extra 13 minutes of added time across the match.

Adolescence star Owen Cooper gave a nod to Liverpool Football Club after he won at the Golden Globe film and TV awards.

The 16-year-old rounded off his acceptance speech for best supporting actor with an "You'll never walk alone" club anthem reference.:anguish:

Hoping they reward such loyalty with a meek exit to Barnsley tonight.

So looking at the most first team games NUFC have played in a season, it looks like the 68/69 Fairs Cup winning team played 59 games.

If we get through the CL Group, we’d be playing a minimum of 55. Every chance we can beat this by winning our play-off and getting to the semis of FA Cup, notwithstanding making the LC final.

By comparison:

2003/04 - 57 games

1994/95 - 56 games

2002/03 - 54 games

2001/02 - 53 games

2004/05 - 52 games

1997/98 - 52 games

2023/24 - 51 games

Either way, monster of a season that’s likely to be in our top 5 of most played games. From The Athletic:

In the 84 days since the November international break, they have played 24 times. Champions League progression would make it 26, a game every 3.2 days across three months. Should Newcastle keep winning by March 22, they could play 33 matches inside 120 days.

Having to play potentially ten games just to reach the CL knockout 'proper' - and for the outcome still to be unknown right until the end of February - is an utter farce, like. Not an original point I know but the format really is fucking crap and hopefully unsustainable.

Definitely not unsustainable unfortunately. This is the format or as close to it as demanded by the big clubs. Lots of game so they can use the massive squads they have, very little jeopardy and more money.

Shite for anyone who gives a fuck but it's on brand with society.
