toon25
I think he's got something by way of attitude and desire that young players rarely have these days. This kid is as determined, honest, and as level headed as they come in terms of young professional footballers

Reading back over some of the other posts in here though man. Shocking. It’s looking like it. But as soon as he’s played well, scoring and creating ive given him credit. I’ve no bias against the boy. I want him to do well. Same thing with Almiron or any other player I don’t rate as highly as many on here. I used to think Schar would struggle in a back 4. I was wrong. He’s brilliant. I’m happy that I was wrong. Because that was a commonly held view people don’t quote me after every good performance. I also said from the start Pope is a level above Dubs, many disagreed. It’s opinions until the lads prove what’s what on the pitch. I don’t hold it against anyone like some do with me. Someone @‘d me when Almiron scored in preseason. Imagine if I tagged them back every game he has 0 goals 0 assists - how pathetic.
The Bonk
The best part of his goal was the 5 yard flick that gave him room to step into the strike and swerve the ball around the defender and the keeper to the far corner. A few have said he lacks creativity, but that shows he has it and then some. He might lack a mazzy dribble down the wing, but he’s more about power and striding past defenders. I’d describe him as a two way power forward, with incredible pace and stamina, that can track his man, recover when need be. He looks an absolute bargain now. oldtype
We underestimate how hard it is for a player to be this productive at the top level at his age. Feels like he’s in his prime already but has a long way to go in terms of improvement. It’s been forever since I’ve felt this way about one of our young players, but I think we have someone in Gordon who could potentially become truly world class. (the last time I felt that way was Andy Carroll so hopefully I’m not as horribly wrong this time ) Edited September 25, 2023 by oldtype
La Parka
He just straight up murders people in any footrace. Love that he knocks it seemingly too far ahead, easily reaches it and cuts inside with mad agility. I really didn't get this signing, but to be honest I thought he was a more central midfielder. He's absolutely lethal on the left though.

Lotus
He was very, very good but we do need a bit of context here. SU did not deal with him well. He was up against a CB not a RB. He also needs to put in productive performances regularly before he can be judged properly. I didn’t slate him after the Milan game and I’m not declaring him the ‘a level above’ after yesterday. The whole team had a good game and AG certainly brought a level of danger to our attack. Was fantastic to see. Will have a better feel for where he is in his development by the New Year I would think. Hope he has plenty of +ve contributions by hen.
Gallowgate Toon
It was cool to hear in his NUFCTV interview that he'd been working with Tindall on that shot - before, he said he'd have tried to hit top bins but they've been working on a more controlled effort. How many does he need to do for you Lotus? He’s had two goals and two assists in the equivalent time of five full games.

But it is 6 games. He needs to keep it up over the course of a season. It's a bit early to think he's made it. IMO he still looks like a player developing and learning - he's not even touched anywhere near his ceiling. It's extremely promising and he's our main guy atm. 59 minutes ago, Gallowgate Toon said: It was cool to hear in his NUFCTV interview that he'd been working with Tindall on that shot - before, he said he'd have tried to hit top bins but they've been working on a more controlled effort. Good to hear. You could tell before he was very raw and didn't really have his "moves". Now he's putting it together. That finish is a "move" and he's pulled it off already. Well, get the brief number of games thus far this season. But assertion was he needs to do it regularly—two goals, two assists winning a penalty in five PL games (minutes wise) seems pretty regular to me; thus far. If point is more like a one swallow (or five…) don’t make a summer, i.e. needs to be over a longer period of time, then that is a different issue. We perhaps have varying thresholds—in a can he on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke kind of way—a summer international tournament, preseason, not looking out of place against a CL powerhouse and that kind of return in his first half a dozen PL games this season is enough for me. jackyboy
Before he came here I never thought he would ever be complimented on his attitude. Matt1892
Whilst the upturn has only been this season and we are in the early games of that, I feel that there was almost a wiping of the slate clean with him after his interview after the Chelsea game, where he acknowledged his struggles with fitness and the tempo but was going to work hard over the summer to rectify that. McCormick
Has that little bit of arrogance and bite that top players need to have. Loads for him to work on but he’s got all the raw attributes to become something special.
gbandit
I’ve generally backed him a lot since it became clear he was going to join us. I did essentially call him a sewer rat because of his aggro attitude when he was at Everton but it’s great to have players to dislike who play for other teams. I’m sure most clubs’ fans have him high up on their most disliked NUFC player because of his attitude but that’s a good thing. I hate Bruno Fernandes but I get why Man U fans love him, even accounting for his excellent play
AyeDubbleYoo
Always backed him, his 'bad' attitude for Everton was clearly because he cared a lot and the club was a disaster. Although maybe he had some moderating of his attitude to do, it was clear he was a winner. And his technical ability and game sense is excellent and always has been. Lush Vlad
I'm sure it has been covered on Sky and in here. But why was it not a handball for the first goal? It doesn't actually help him control it, as it nearly knocks the ball off the pitch. But I was still expecting it to be ruled out. Did they go into any detail on the blatant foul on him for a pen? Stonewall, I thought. Really impressive yet again. Milan has been his only below par game, from what I have seen. Some turnaround for the lad. Been our best player this season and can't help but feel delighted for him.

Apparently the rule states that if it was not deliberate, and the ball didn't come directly off his arm to the goalscorer, then it's not handball. It should be handball imo, but accoring to the rules it isn't.
Gallowgate Toon
No idea why it should be a handball. It's not deliberate and doesn't benefit Gordon - it actually makes it harder for him to keep the move going.

FWIW I don't think anything accidental should be a handball, it's ridiculous to punish people for the ball randomly touching their hand.
