Teams will get crosses no matter what, and you can't let someone ghost into the box unmarked. Totally agree he should be playing every game he can. He did get sucked into the middle to allow the space for the cross but that's maybe harsh when no-one else had covered the run he went after inside. First impression was a little bit naive (it happened twice early on) but from then on he did much better
ToonAbroad
Great to see him performing well from RB - defensive positioning etc will need some work but a much needed option against weaker opposition given the injury situation.

Still, sorta irrelevant if you let them have a free header in the box with no midfielder/CB picking up Lukic. You can't stop every cross but you can defend them. Hopefully he's not tasked with RB again too soon but think he did decent. Edited December 17, 2025 by Casey

Lush Vlad
Thought he was a bit iffy defending at times. But that’s to be expected. Also defended really well a lot of the time. His passing from there helped the same way as when Trippier plays there. Tucked into midfield the same as Trippier, too.

Wolfcastle
Seen Ginola give Albert better protection in that game against Everton than Murphy gave him on their goal. Edited December 17, 2025 by Wolfcastle
madras
I'm sure Southampton and Spurs both played Bale at LB with the idea of letting him get experience with the game in front of him. Can't see him at RB but a game or two like that could do him the world of good. Made him look forward instead of sideways for one thing and his reading off the ball seemed better for it. Yeah he was in the centre circle when the ball went into his area for the cross, but given he looked like he had instructions to join midfield when we had the ball it's forgivable Best part of it was that he didn't get caught again
Toonjam88
I know I am very protective of him but their first goal was nothing to do with him. Murphy lost his player as he was too busy talking to someone else. Lewis followed the player he should have.

Newcastle Fan
I thought it was poor man management putting him at right back against two rapid fulham players but this kid is a special talent to come out of it as man of the match, putting some of the more senior players to shame. Keeper saved that one.

Yorkie
He's such a fucking footballer, isn't he? It comes so naturally to him. Chuck him in and he floats, whenever he's playing. Just randomly turning up at RB and being great is no small achievement, and then to get the winner just proves how he truly belongs in the team. Incredible player and we knew this from the first moment he stepped on the pitch as a bairn. It's up to us to get the best out of him.
Ben
What a day for Stanley, first Luke Akehurst MP, talking in Parliament about maybe thinking about possibly starting a conversation about sorting a meeting that might begin the process over the next few years to redevelop the front street....and now this. Pilko
Wonder who the last player was to score in four different competitions for NUFC in a calendar year was? If he can get one in the FA Cup in a few weeks and same question applies to a single season.
LordJake
Thought he was excellent , given he was out of position. Made a few ricks but totally forgivable as a teenager playing in an unfamiliar role. Hope he continues to progress as he could be a great

alexf
Been one of our best performers the last few weeks or so. Really growing as a player. Don't like that we are having to shove him into right back cover but needs must and it Howe thinks he's the best one to play there then so be it.
