I had some lad come up to me at full time and ask why I wasn't singing "for the team like that all game" after spending approximately 80mins singing

Deadly serious he was and all.

Think I'll call the silent chap out on Saturday.

Lass next to me didn’t make a noise until Justin Lockwood asked for the fans to cheer the bloke doing the half time challenge. Then she made a noise to whinge about the Gallowgate booing the away mascot when they were announced. Why do people go to the match to just sit in complete silence.

Wasn't there last night but the reaction to the atmosphere (or lack of it) on Social Media is probably the most negative I've seen all season. Just seen @Disco post above as well which ties in with what I've been reading on Twitter and Facebook. A couple of hundred empty seats there as well. Resales that they couldn't move on.

Seemed mad it was much worse than in the cup.

Didn’t see any empties albeit the kick off time would maybe contribute to that but it’s galling to read as someone who doesn’t have a ST. Fuck knows why you wouldn’t do the honourable thing if you can’t go.

There are far too many factors coming in from all angles that chip away at the atmosphere and that collectively result in a shit atmosphere. As long as the club keep prioritising the reason for those factors (revenue) above and at the cost of all else, they'll nurture it and it'll only get worse.

It was full, except the away section, despite so many tickets on resale, but overall a very poor atmosphere.

Some midweek games there's this sense that "I'm here and so pleased to be part of this occasion" last night it felt more like "I'm here because I have to be".

8.15 is a really shit kick off time, yes it's only 30 minutes later than normal but it affects so many last buses and trains home and even little things like that impact.

Was in LS L4X and all I could hear was the Spurs fans, in the main. Wouldn't like to sit there permanently but free gratis, coupled with aids ballot joy, needs mustard.

Was one bloke, regularly facing the Spurs fans giving it the bigun all the time. Half time I could hear him in the bogs giving it large. Then walking down the stairs after I heard the  O'Brien song going. It was him again.

Was with hid laddie about 12.

Absolutely fucking coke heed. Had to be.

Hopkinson really needs to bring in some trends from North America.

Can't go more than 20 minutes without Chips and Curry Sauce? Have it delivered to your seat for an extra £3.00.

Your bairn can't go more than 20 minutes without a Twix? Have a Twix mascot fire it from a cannon into the bairns general vicinity.

Didnt seem to be as many early leavers as usual last night to me

Had a couple of blokes on the stairs who i presume had came from elsewhere in the ground waffling utter shite and singing loads of bollocks which killed any atmosphere near me in the corner. "Oh when the mags come marching in" apparently the words now.

Could tell everyone was thinking I wish they'd fuck off

Admit it, you’re Hopkinson’s newly appointed Strategy Executive aren’t you

I told a couple that the Theatre Royal was over there when I got a look for cheering loudly at one point. Don’t think it went down overly well tbh.

Walking out to Hey Jude is fucking tinpot. That needs to be nipped in the bud ASAP.

Local Hero must be reinstated. It's a unique anthem and the crescendo at the end just before kick off is perfection.

If we're really going to change the music then let's please try something different. Surely with Brian Johnson being a Geordie a banger out of the AC/DC catalogue would be more apt

The only fix will be to have a big seat move in the summer to relocate like minded fans but don't think that will happen.

I would make a chunk of the leazes standing and relocate fans to others, also having family enclosure next to away fans Makes very little sense..

Hate to be the fan that moans about actual match-goers while sat at home but Christ, that spurs game atmosphere sounded awful on my stream. Must be a reason for but it was really disappointing. Especially considering spurs are the type of team that would’ve crumbled massively under any kind of hostile home noise.

Tbf it was quite good in the Gallowgate, with chants also starting in the lower Milburn stand.

I was in lower gallowgate/milburn corner for second time this season and was way better than usual seat higher in leazes/milburn corner.

The shite version of the Blaydon Races played on loop is even worse just before kickoff. If we insist on using it, why can't he hit stop once the chorus after the first verse is over? At least then it leads into a 'black and white army' chant to carry into kick-off instead of another half-baked effort of "A went to Blaydon Races...".

Yeah, I actually like Blaydon Races before the game because everyone can sing it, but I don't get why he lets the lyrics start again just before KO. No understanding of the dynamics of the situation at all.

People can go on about the pre match music etc but changing that is just akin to rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. It's probably going to upset a lot of people but if we really want to address the elephant in the room the fact is that it's the people inside the ground who are the problem. We must have, without a doubt, the oldest most miserable home crowd in the Country and old people generally aren't the sort to create a rousing atmosphere. I often look around at those who are sat in my vicinity and even at 47 I feel like I'm on the younger side of the spectrum. I was at work on Tuesday night so watched on my phone. Honestly when the camera picks up fans in the East Stand it looks like they're pretty much on their last legs. No life in there whatsoever. Just sit there like statues. Watched Leeds v Chelsea last night and it's the polar opposite. Fans opposite the camera up out their seats getting behind their team, giving the opposition loads of stick. Basically doing their jobs and making it an uncomfortable atmosphere for the away players. They done their jobs. Leeds don't win that game last night away from Elland Road. Even at places like Arsenal the fans appear for more animated and involved in the game than ours are.

Our younger, more enthusiastic fans, and there's still a few there who aren't locked out or priced out are dotted around the place and their impact is minimal.

Ticket prices I feel this season are the final nail in the coffin. £58-£97 for members prices on Tuesday. With all due respect you've basically priced the local radgies out in one fell swoop there and you've instantly decided to target a different market, and it's it's not the market who'll be up out their seats urging the team on. At this stage I don't even think safe standing makes much of a difference. It's the same people after all.

People go on about a new stadium will be "soulless" but I'll tell you something, SJP is a soulless as anything else out there these days. Absolutely flat as a fart. The corner try but their impact isn't massive because they are fairly small in number, Gallowgate Upper try but because of the design of the roof they can't be heard anywhere but in the Gallowgate and there's still a few up by the away fans but they are too far away to affect the atmosphere down on the pitch for the players to feed off. What I will say is that we lost a lot of our "hardcore" when Rafa walked away. There was definitely something building there in blocks U and V in the Gallowgate (that 2-3 Liverpool game up there  was off the scale!) but they walked away en masse when Rafa went and Bruce came in.

When you factor in all the above you have the perfect storm for a flat, miserable atmosphere and in the main that's been the case all season with a couple of exceptions. Even the CL games have been flat. Tbh it's put me off going. Didn't even apply in the Burnley ballot. I'll watch it on the Firestick. Save myself 50 odd quid, watch it with a few cans and in the warm. It's not like I'll be missing out on a rousing atmosphere which is the only benefit of being there as opposed to watching on the telly, other than tbe pre and post match drinks but I'll save my money on them for Leverkusen next week!

Been going regularly since the mid 80s. When I look back at shite atmosphere seasons there's the 90/91 season when there was barely anyone there to make a noise, the Bruce era and this season.

I do think we're past the point of no return now sadly. Mentioned it earlier but ticket prices this season are the final nail in the atmosphere coffin. We're now charging the same as Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal and there's literally not been a single complaint. In places like Germany for example there'd have been hell on if they'd increased to ticket prices by so much in such a short space of time. We just accept it sadly.
