I don’t think they would necessarily be in competition for the same position, but obviously Howe likes players to be flexible enough to play in a few roles. Also potentially allows you to play a more attacking player at left back because he will sit much deeper and be part of the 3 alongside the centre backs (instead of Burn tucking in to make the 3) at times. If Bruno’s out we don’t have a natural sitting midfielder and you’d imagine he’d give us more solidity defensively.
