While I agree you can't just look at xG this also seems like an overly negative way of dismissing the fact we lead the league in it 20% of the way through the season.

Our two best games account for 50% of our xG.

Liverpool's two best are 39% of their xG.

Brighton's are 41%.

City's are 48%

Arsenal's are 46%

It's pretty normal for a couple 'boom' games to prop up the number.

I’m not dismissing anything, only saying that it isn’t an indicator that you would want to use on its own.

I guess it would maybe allow Bruno to play further forward with 1 other option? I don’t think they would necessarily be in competition for the same position, but obviously Howe likes players to be flexible enough to play in a few roles.

If Howe can get Phillips back up to speed then he'd be a very good player for us.

Also potentially allows you to play a more attacking player at left back because he will sit much deeper and be part of the 3 alongside the centre backs (instead of Burn tucking in to make the 3) at times.

I’d be be all for it as he’d give us another option that we don’t have. If Bruno’s out we don’t have a natural sitting midfielder and you’d imagine he’d give us more solidity defensively.

Worried about his form, fitness and willingness to be a rotation player for us though.

No thank you, we want players on the upward swing who are hungry and motivated. From the sounds of it, he’s not hungry or motivated.

Pep seems to think being hungry is one of his main problems…
