The press sure as shit don't know who's on our list, and how do we know we're "flailing around", we've had bids and approaches rejected sure, but that doesn't mean we're running around like headless chicken without a clue of what we're doing. I get that to date this window has been disappointing, and the Isak stuff isn't great, but I really don't understand why there has been this much of a shitstorm whipped up when there is still over 6 weeks of the Transfer Window left. Absolutely no guarantee we'll make CL next year so it'll feel like a couple of steps back. It just feels like our target list was pretty small and back up options weren't there. Now we're flailing around trying to boost our numbers and every club knows this. We signed Elanga and failed with a bid for Pedro 10m below his selling price. We are only 'flailing' if you believe we made bids for Mbeumo and Cunha. We arent doing very well but the noise and rumours is exaggerating our perceived level of interest and intent on lots of players making it appear like we are now sending emails to receptionists asking for an appointment to meet the DoF. Everything is over amplified by the social media rumour mill. Agree on the first part obviously.

Well I said "it feels like" so I'm obviously not privy to our transfer options. We move at a glacial pace, in my opinion, when it comes to transfers. 6 weeks will fly over mate. In his defence it might be because our owners move at a glacial pace? Other than sleeping with the league club I'm not sure what he will be remembered for. Overseen the most successful period in the clubs recent history maybe? I’m guessing his parting gift will be the announcement of a new stadium and training ground… Edited July 21, 2025 by LFEE

Coffee_Johnny
We’re having a welcome to the big time summer, is one way of looking at it. Losing out on options for players we want to Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Manure, now Bayern Munich (possibly). Could be/has been worse. The fact that we haven't signed anyone other than Elanga and the fact that Eddie wanted to bring people in early does imply atleast that our list of targets was rather small. If we had a longer list of targets ready to go things would happen more quickly I would think.
Displayname
But when I think about it, its hard to criticize our overall transfer strategy that seems to have worked out pretty fucking great. Im just "worried" that we will once again end up with a too small squad. I guess filling up the squad can wait until later in the transfer window. Simply put, the clubs with effective recruitment strategies have lists of players, that they may not need right now but to keep an eye on. For players to sign in the upcoming window, they have an idea whether he interests other clubs. Mbuemo, and Ekitite were non starters. We should have had an idea whether Chelsea might bid for JP and look elsewhere, not move on to Ektitike who always rejects us for the bigger money/surer bet. Forest signed Jair Cunha at CB. Lads massive, but agile and not slow, quicker than our CB's anyway, can't say I've seen loads, but what I have seen, he's got intelligence, positional awareness, aggression (possibly overaggressive, would need to be assessed), he's a winner. Forest fought no1 for his signature. Igor Jesus seems a risk, versatile, but technique isn't great, and holds onto the ball too much for the premiership. But, given good coaching and a system, coould turn out to be a useful signing. My question is how has our scouting department changed since the takeover? How many scouts do we have attending the Club World Cup, looking at the south American prospects, how many between the Dutch, Portuguese, Belgian, French, German Leagues and U-21 leagues? How many top players have Wolves had in their team simply because they are well connected with Portuguese teams? We are not playing smart off the pitch at all, and to catch up we need to be finishing top 4 in that department before we'll ever cement top 4 on the field. Of course nobody can disagree that better would be better.
