bobbydazzla Posted January 24 Share Posted January 24 (edited) I just want us to sign some £15-20m players whose clubs are willing to sell, who are young and will have resale value, who would bolster the squad in a key position, whose wages we can afford, who want to join NUFC not another club, who will fit our system, who will fit the Premier League, they don’t need a work permit and the players need to have the right mentality and personality to fit well into our squad and not be a bell whiff. That’s not too much to ask is it ? Oh, one more thing, I demand that they play well and impress me on the pitch as soon as they join otherwise I’m going to verbally abuse them loudly from the stands. GeordieDazzler Posted January 24 Share Posted January 24 The club always seems to take the view of the long term unless their hand is forced (like with Wissa) and I think Howe is okay with that as long as he’s allowed some influence on who comes in. Villa seem to have their stalwarts in McGinn, Watkins, Roger’s and Konya etc and make very of the moment signings to try and solidify their position. It would annoy me less had we had what we needed and no issues in the squad its a bad time to do your main business and get good value. However our backline is going again and again with question marks over who will be here come the summer kraft, trips,lacelles, targett and schar could all go. Tino press are saying hes likely to leave? so it seems short sighted to just roll with it in the hopes it works out in theory we could need 3 or 4 defenders come the summer so getting 1 or 2 now seems to make sense so they have half a season with the existing group to learn the Eddie way. Have no evidence to back this up but getting attacking goal scoring players usually cost more and in shorter supply surely cannot be the same for defenders. What you say about getting defenders now makes sense but it depends whether they are actually available now. Teams rarely keen to let players leave in Jan and it also means you often end up paying well over the odds too. I do think we need to bring in a defender though to provide cover as it would be a shame to come apart from the seems when we’re actually sitting in a pretty decent position in the table.
