NUFC Transfer Rumours

Chelsea apparently need to make profit before September because of UEFA rules. So if they sign Simons and Hato, they are going to have to sell couple for pure profit. That is why Chalobah and Tosin are available.

I'm sure they're deadly afraid of that slap on the wrist and 30p fine from UEFA.

James Mcatee definitely for sale. I'd take him for 30 mil. Can play midfield, a sort of 10, and on the right wing.

yep, would be a very good addition.

An I being greedy wanting wissa and then 2 in midfield to play a 10/in attack then another as more of a DM

Id say so considering the amount of time it's taken us to sign one player all summer

Should have added as unlikely as it is a bruno cover and a tonali cover depending what we think miley is then an alternative to playing big joe.

Obviously willock is still here rightly or wrongly meaning the manager probably feels we do have depth other than a longstaff replacement.

In the scenario where Liverpool want to get him on a free next year, or pay only £30m for him or something

And Liverpool is his preference

But we are interested and would be happy to pay £40-45m

And Palace would be happy to accept this

Do we walk away as we aren't his first preference? Do we try and and make it happen? Does player power win and he ultimately goes on a free next year / if Liverpool meet what Palace want etc

I really don't get why anyone would choose chelsea over anyone as it stands. Money aside (players can get good wages at many clubs), you would have to battle with 20 gazillion other players they've bought that play in your position, which will only increase season on season. If I were gifted with the ability to play top flight football I would want to actually, you know, play top flight football. All players going there are doing is getting paid to maybe make their bench. The u21's can only field a certain number of players over that age (unless they've change the rules) so all they are doing is getting paid to train, and their manager pretty much split the players so he only had to work with a hundred or so of their players and the rest would have to train somewhere else didn't he?  Yeah, the money is nice, but there's a certain point where it just becomes meaningless.

Players’ motivations will vary, of course. Some will only care about the wages and/or London. Historically Chelsea may be a middling club, but within the lifetimes of players coming up now the club has won the league five times, the CL twice, and a bunch of other hardware: this *is* one of the biggest clubs in the world and has been for the last 20 years. Hard to resist the allure of joining such a club if they say they want you.

Palace’s approach didn’t even make sense last time around, they should’ve cashed in. So I don’t really know what they would do now. IMO they should be looking to get some money in ASAP.

They did win a trophy I guess, so you could argue it worked out for them.

Guy wanted to join us last summer, telling every man and his dog he was on his way here and couldn’t wait.

If we agree a deal with Palace, we get him. Or Liverpool at worse have to agree and pay more in wages.

Yeah, sure, of course his price is too high! Nice try Liverpool, we all know how this is gonna go.

Liverpool: How much for Guehi?

Palace: Bidding starts at 40m

Liverpool: Nah, that's too high, we'll sit this one out.

Newcastle: Hi Palace, it’s us again! We are prepared to offer 40m for Mar.....

Liverpool: HERE'S 55M!

Romano: Guehi only wanted Liverpool.

You've missed the media narrative where Liverpool flex their muscle and put newcastle in their place

Liverpools genius power play: Spend 55m on a player they were hoping to get for free next year cause their far superior CB is getting poached by Madrid.

Do yous want another war with Liverpool? 😂 I don't.

We won't win.

You think we lost the last one? We were in a no lose situation. I am quite content with the outcome - keeping Isak.

I would have loved to have his backfill in but it was a super long shot. And we forced their hand to move now and for more, rather than hold long term for Isak. They were forced to make a move or find themselves in a possible lose lose, no Isak, no Ekitike.

From my pov, we are far ahead and would take another one on one

It’s implausible to me that we’re waiting around until August so we can bid for Guehi again.

Doubt we’re waiting around, but a case of a previous target we’ve done loads of ground work on before and have liked, is now more available then before so time to make a move. Just like Etitike.

Guehi was interested in coming last year - I think there is zero chance he joins us now.

He may be better off signing a pre-contract and moving next summer for free to Liverpool or another major European club where he can earn at least 100K more a week than he would earn at NUFC. Alternatively, Liverpool lowball and Crystal Palace reluctantly accept in the end. These two scenarios are far more likely than Guehi turning down lucrative offers at more prestigious and higher paying clubs to join NUFC.
