Any chance of scrapping this thread, getting well beyond a joke what's going on , never known anything like this since I began supporting he club.

There’s been absolutely numerous worse windows than this in the not too distant past.

Unfortunately a combination of our expectations and how every tiny little thing is played out across social media, clouds our judgement into thinking this “is the worst I’ve ever known it”.

True. We’ve had A LOT worse - windows with zero interest in signing anyone.

🤣

Mate… you are the most negative poster / person I have ever come across.

Take a breath, take a step back. We’ve just won a cup and qualified for the champions league. We’ve signed a very good RW, and are clearly trying to buy good players in multiple positions (something that I agree has been frustrating so far, but I truly believe at least 3 more players will arrive).

It’s not remotely close to a disaster. It’s not remotely close to “beyond a joke”. It’s frustrating, but there’s plenty of time for a good outcome.

Think positively.

If the reports are true, we're at the point where we probably shouldn't even sign a striker until we get a proper recruitment team in imo.

Not even hyperbole, I'm deadly serious. The players we're reportedly after and are maybe realistic aren't ticking enough boxes to make them worthwhile.

We're talking either too old, too expensive, not good enough, unproven or a combination. It really is an unprecedented situation we're in, particularly if we sell Isak, and means that there's a good chance we spend too much for no return on investment on the pitch.

We're staring down the barrell of going into a gun fight unarmed and we're looking through the knife catalogue wondering which one to buy.

I think Paqueta is absolutely class like. If he's available for a reasonable fee and is cleared of the betting charges, I'd be disappointed if we didn't try to sign him. Would offer us a lot, genuine central midfield cover fitting our current system, whilst also being a genuine option in a 4231.

Yup, I likee a lot.

Sesko and Wissa would be very good actually. 70 + 30.
Scalvini or Guehi (40m)
Paqueta (30m)

Replacement GK (30m)

£200m spend.

Perhaps £50m-70m net spend depending what we get for Isak. The Ekitike money.

Tons of PSR room.

That would be all positions covered that we need help in.

Don’t think any of those options Hope mentioned are particularly terrible tbh.

All significantly worse than Isak for sure but wtf are people expecting? We’re never going to replace him with anyone of comparable quality; he’s one of if not the best players in his position in the world.

If we want guehi we have to promise him first team football to trump  any wage that gets offered to him from a top six hijack. Should of done the same with Trafford.

You think Guehi and Trafford are 5 years old or what?

They’d all be massively overpriced.

I was excited to see the fruits of the recruitment team’s last 12 months. They’d obviously profiled some of the most promising young players in Europe and South America. I was genuinely excited to see who would be coming in. Then I realised we were selling our best player and working our way down a two year old list of transfer targets. Underwhelming.
