Barnes is the best finisher we have and he also links better with the full back because he's patient, moves smartly off the ball and can find them on the overlap rather than just shuttling the ball back to them when he runs into trouble. The interplay between him and Bruno for our first was excellent.

Love Harvey. Honestly looks like he could cares less about playing for us but the guy makes a difference and I do not give a solitary fuck.

just keep making a difference and I’ll keep backing him.

Looks like such a positive influence in the dressing room, too. Match cam vids shows he just wants to laugh, joke and be happy and inclusive. Beautiful human being.

He is the first choice winger for sure currently and he seems to have the best understanding with Hall as well. That of course was the key to the cup final last season. Hope they both get a decent run together down that side.

I think he's our most underrated player tbh, considering Jacob Murphy plays for us that's some going.

Definitely the most underrated EFL Cup Final player as well. He was brilliant throughout but is rarely brought up.

Hall didn’t play in the cup final, but you’re right about the rest 👍

So he could or he couldn’t care less? :lol:Sorry, always hated that shite American take on that saying.

I thought the current sentiment was, it was a waste of resources since he wasn't needed. I never ever believed that myself. Swapped my avatar for him for a while. I thought he was a real player. He's had his struggles and hasn't played as much as I would like but Harvey is a player.

he has really great qualities that the team is otherwise missing, really. Gets into goal scoring opportunities all the time and has the finishing ability to back it up.

Should be first choice imo. You’re going to get some quiet games but I reckon he gets 15+ goals in this team over the course of a season if he’s first choice. Unlikely to get sent off and miss important games too.

"best understanding" is a nice way of putting it  Gordon simply refuses to play the ball to the overlapping fullback, whether its Dan Burn or Lewis Hall he will cut inside and either lose the ball or play it backwards.

I second this. Said it for a while.

Quote

Anthony Gordon has not scored or assisted a goal in 19 consecutive Premier League games. His last Premier League goal or assist was on January 25, 2025.

Since January 2025, Harvey Barnes has recorded a combined total of 10 goals and 4 assists

When these are the facts then it's really hard to argue why Gordon always gets priority at LW over Barnes. Even when they are on the pitch together it's always Barnes who gets shoved to RW.

Gordon has alot of qualities he can bring to the team but his output in the final 3rd is miles behind Barnes. I think Howe has been a bit blinded by Gordon's pressing and work rate for too long. Barnes should be first choice.

6 goals and 2 assists already this season. He’s had a goal involvement every 104 minutes.

Small’ish sample. But he simply has to be starting games regularly. If he hits a bit of a rough patch. He has surely earned a bit of time. Shouldn’t be shifted to the right or dropped for Gordon on all known form this year.

I’d say that was about his best performance as a starter (maybe Man Utd at home last season).

He’s never gonna be a player that’s always heavily involved in a match but we and he need to find a way to of getting him to have more ‘moments’ in a match.

As a everyone says, he’s the best finisher at the club (Wissa can feel free to prove that wrong), so we need to be getting him involved to show that.
