Lloyd Kelly - Juventus' €17.5m Obligation to Buy Activated (Romano)

How are signing on and agents fees treated for PSR purposes? I have a suspicion that the large number we saw for agents fees last year could be linked to this transfer as there weren’t many others to associate it with. If we also loaded his wages via a signing on fee to avoid upsetting the balance across the squad then I fear from a financial perspective this isn’t quite as lucrative as it appears, but I’m not sure if that doesn’t matter for PSR sales / revenue purposes.

I personally don't believe for one second he was on that much, as it would have been far more difficult to shift him. Certainly he would have not fit into Juve wage structure.

Capology has his Juve wage at 40,000 euros a week.

It will have been his total packade including signing on fee or something like that. So he might have cost the club £150k a week in accounting terms with the signing on fee ammortised during the length of his contract.

Exactly this!

Plus the figure would also include maximum bonuses he could have received also... absolute bollix what gets reported regarding wages

Players don’t get signing on fees any more, they get loyalty bonuses and performance bonuses paid monthly over the course of their contract.

If we sell a player we must still pay the loyalty bonus. Depending on the contract that might mean that we have to pay the bonus immediately upon sale, or it may be possible to continue paying the loyalty bonus monthly for as long as necessary. A player loses their outstanding loyalty bonus if they hand in a transfer request or they may choose to renegotiate the amount the are owed to facilitate a sale.

Not knowing the details of Kelly’s contract, let’s split the £150k alleged into three equal parts: Basic, Loyalty, Performance.

If the outstanding loyalty bonus is £50k a week for three years, that is £7.8m we’d either have to pay Kelly in June or continue to pay him. Assuming the former, we’d only be able to claim about £10m for PSR accounting purposes if those numbers are real.
