If this upsets Pope and he goes leaving dubs num2 are people OK with that?

I'm OK with whatever Howe is OK with.

A decade ago if I saw something appear on the yellow ticker I’d be running the transfer bath.

Now if it’s reported on SSN first I treat it with a massive pinch of salt.

Yes. As good as Pope is he’s getting on, and if you look at his shoulder funny it pops out.

I’d prefer him and Trafford compete like.

We know the drill, Eddie won’t use him until he fully trusts him OR the glimpses we see are irrefutable. Like Bruno, we could all see the quality, yet he had him on the bench for best part of a month, maybe more.

“In the summer I think people knew I wanted to move,” he told the Ben Foster's Fozcast podcast. “The club that I was close to going, it was a good fit for me. It was brilliant for me and I really believed in it.

“I wanted to move, not just because I didn’t want to play in the Championship, I had no shame playing in the Championship. I have no ego to think I’m better than the Championship. You only prove something by performing and showing people. You can say whatever you want but unless you perform.

“It was just when an opportunity and a situation you think suits you can happen, you should take it and you should try and go for it, so I wanted to move. It was close but it didn’t end up happening.

“The manager was brilliant throughout pre-season. I wasn’t the best, I was moody because I’m young and I wanted to move, but in the moment I still worked extremely hard.

“I knew the longer it went on, the reality became I would be playing the first game of the season and I wanted to play. I told the manager I’m available if he wanted to select me. If not, I’ll sit on the bench, but I’m available. He played me the first game and that was it.”

I don't normally listen to their show but Geordie Journos said the deal was done last season, fee all agreed, and then our PSR debacle stopped it.

They brought it up as defence for the Mitchell comment using some variant of "not fit for purpose" about our transfer policy.

I hope the fee hasn't gone up too much. If he wants to start, he'll have to earn it, but the above comment makes him sound very mature.

Just on sweeping, but Pope doing it and Dubs not doing it suggests its a combination of Pope's ability and recognition of that from Howe. If all our keepers did it, you could claim it was just manager policy/tolerance of risk.

A Gk position is very different to the others though. If we sign him, he’ll be our starting goalkeeper very early into the season

I think Pope will hang around for the start of the season, if he sees that he is second choice then he'll probably move and we'll have to look for a younger back up.

Not seen that much of him tbh

Is he Ederson levels with his feet

Is he as commanding as Pope is in the box and sweeping up?

Not that big is he?

He's pretty tall, 6 ft 6, will beef up over the next couple of years I'd imagine.

Are these serious questions? He’s young. If he had Ederson levels with his feet and was as commanding as Pope he’d already be at Real Madrid.
