You can be embarrassed without anyone else. It’s the feeling of being ashamed and self conscious. like ‘wow that’s how I’m behaving, I should be better than that’ even if nobody else knows/cares. This summer has been embarrassing. But I’ll be happy to get Thiaw in.

ToonAbroad
Any depth in defence is welcome, 24 only so gotta trust he would be well coached and improved. Know nothing about him but would be excited for anyone right now.

J7
A little bit silly getting annoyed by a signing like this. Our current CBs were £3.5m and Dan Burn who turned into a club legend. Said it before, but we need a number of defenders over the next few windows.

Curva’s profile on him was helpful. I’m going to trust Nickson on this one as well as Eddie’s coaching I do agree with what you’re saying. There is a part of me that would love to get Eddie some real top talent like a Isak. Under Eddie those players can become the best we’ve ever seen. What Eddie has done with Burn and Joelinton is great. But we can see Tonali is another level. Thiaw doesn’t have that reputation. Although from the little clips I’ve seen I like Thiaw a lot. He seems to have all the physical and technical ingredients. Fast, wins his headers, seems brave, secure in possession, can play a forward pass. Only thing from the clips negative is he seems to go to ground a lot which might indicate a positional issue. But he’s young enough. Saying all of that I was kinder to Bramble than most for the same reasons. Bramble wasn’t shit, he had bags of ability and talent. But wow were the flaws fatal. Jack Colback was actually shit though. Keegans Export
He's been a target for a while so Nickson obviously rates him, Howe will have given it the green-light too. That's good enough for me and £30-35m is the sort of fee I assumed we'd be looking at for a defender. Plus we've still got Schar, Burn, Botman and (if it comes to it) Lascelles so he doesn't need to go straight in if he needs work.

I’m not up for that kind of heartbreak anymore. Given where we are, players like Elanga, Thiaw, etc. make more sense. Get them young, let Eddie develop them, and when we’re a permanent top five side with more PSR headroom, that’s when we can start targeting the already-elite. Chris_R
Happy if he comes, Guehi strikes me as too short plus there's the whole LGBTQ+ armband thing that didn't sit well with me.

AyeDubbleYoo
Don't get deals done because offering too little - slammed. Overpay a bit to get a player we want - slammed.
The College Dropout
It’s silly but I really like that Thiaw wins his headers and don’t like how Guehi is a bit suspect in the air. Guehi is likely a far superior player but I just hate that in a CB.

Newcastle Fan
I can't say i've seen much of him but he seems like he fits a lot of what we are looking for it terms of pace, ability on the ball and physicality. and at 23 you can assume he'll improve over time.
