I’m still of the same opinion about him. He will have some awesome games but also many poor ones because of his limitations in general play and technical ability. I didn’t want him as I don’t feel that he’ll evolve us and I think he lacks some very important attributes. I’m sure he can and will do better in the future, I just don’t ever see him becoming a top player. Hope I’m wrong.

I was against the signing of Barnes as well from the off. I didn’t think he has it either. Will have some very good games and has great goal scoring ability (when in form) but also limited as a footballer.

Whenever we do sign another winger I hope it’s one with more technical ability because we lack massively in this area out wide despite all the money spent. Preferably a very technical CM as well.

We'll probably need to have joined the cartel to do that.

Howe seems to go out his way to mention he still needs to learn how we play. Maybe not quite clicking for him yet but I’ve no doubt it will come. Howe turned Almiron into a World beater for 12 months, he can absurdly the same with Elanga. Few times tonight he gave the ball and just stopped or tried to go himself when he should have built the move. It’ll come.

I wouldn’t have minded someone like Akliouche. Similar money to Elanga. Especially with Tino providing width for example.

He was saucy against Barcelona where he had space to work with. Here though, they were deep and doubled-up on him; it wasn't a game for wingers at all, certainly not orthodox ones. Hence why the majority of our play went through the middle; CBs to Joe all night long.

He's fucking rapid, mind. Easily one of the fastest I've seen in black and white. Looks like he's on fast forward when he gets on his bike.

Every confidence that he'll do well here.

Still seen nothing to change my original opinion that he is a fairly average player but with explosive pace.

He'll score the odd goal or get an assist here and there but it's going to take some impressive Howe magic to make him a game changer or even to become an improvement on Murphy.

I feel at the moment like we got the worst of the £50m+ right wingers that all moved this summer but time will tell I suppose. Was expecting to see more from him against lower League opposition last night than we did.

Slightly unfair I think, he could have had about 3 or 4 assists this season already with better finishing. He just needs to get to grips with our patterns and how we play. He'll come good.

Elanga or Kudos? Same money. Not really a question.

Not seen Kudos play this season but he’s one of the players I very much would have preferred before Elanga. Despite his inconsistency last season I’m sure Howe could have got the best out of him. No doubt he has genuine football ability in general.

I'm still on the fence about him, crazy early days mind.

I wasn't overly keen on his signing, especially for the money. I just feel his technical ability isn't that good, and his end product isn't the best. His pace is a great asset and I hope he gets a run of games where he can provide opportunities for Woltemade as I think that could be a good partnership.

Obviously Kudos is more technically talented but I guess we look at a range of things beyond that as well.

I really rate Kudus, but isn't he kind of shoehorned as a winger? Always thought he'd be best as a 10, or the furthest forward in a midfield 3 as he is very combative

I think Elanga will be fine for us. He'll probably look better against the better teams

He's picked up the NUFC party piece of overhitting or underhitting set pieces pretty quickly. Remember him putting in a perfect free kick for Murillo to score against us at Forest, where's that gone?

Still worried he's all pace and nae technique but his pace is so frightening I think he'll come good eventually.

Also I really like having Elanga and Murphy as options, they're both so different and genuinely offer us something unique

Elanga with his insane pace, and Murphy with his G/A magnet right foot.

Gordon/Barnes on the other side hasn't felt as effective so far this season, despite them being more talented

Are they so different? Similar players with Elanga having more to his game. Right footed right winger looking to feed a striker. Elanga hasn’t played with Nick W much. The assists will come when he does.

Kudus is more talented and flexible but I don’t think we could’ve got him anyway.

I think Kudus has the most successful take ins in the division.  So far. I don’t think any of our wingers are in The top 20% for take-ons. And none of them

Have a wand of a primary foot to create (Murphy might be the closest). That’s a design issue not the fault of the individual players.

Think Elanga’s mentality will see him do well. He seems very driven and focused on improving. It happens at different rates and is not linear. But that mindset is what makes players better. You can have great coaching but it starts and finishes with the player (imo).
