Newcastle United vs. Arsenal [EFL Cup]: 05/02/25 @ 20:00 (SkySports)

What’s made the back 5 chatter be a thing? Was a proper wild play in first leg, but something we can’t be doing again for more than 20 mins tonight.

Keep team same, maybe Longstaff for Joelinton if Joe not 100% fit. One thing I will give Longstaff for a game like this, his connection to the area will get his extra 10% which makes up for his lack of ability.

5 at the back isn't necessarily an issue, in the first leg what was wild was 5-5-0 and it paid off then

If it's 5 and us sitting deep then it's a very risky thing to do but also think Howe is in a difficult position, lose and people will say he should have done the opposite

Howe has shat the bed. I hope this works out for him but changing our style against a team well suited to breaking low blocks down when we’ve got a 2-0 lead seems beyond risky. We should just be getting after these, playing the way we do best. Just like against all the big teams we’ve pulled off big results at home against.

Interesting that he's dropped Tino also. Guess time will tell if it's the right team. Seems to me we have picked a team to nullify them rather than playing for a positive result.
