Newcastle United vs. Chelsea: 11/05/25 @ 12:00 (TNT Sports)

Recommended Posts

This is going to be a much harder game than I think most anticipated awhile ago.

Chelsea even when playing poorly kept getting results and they seem to be coming into some form at the perfect time.

They also have fast athletic players that can cause us problems.

We need one of those top Howe era games where everyone is firing to get over the line here.

Unfortunately however we seems to be running out of steam slightly and Joelinton will be a big miss for this, not just his physicality but his mentality.

Really hope the lads have one more huge performance in them. Wish it was a night game, could do with a hostile environment for Chelsea players.

Must say, I'm not as confident as I was a couple of weeks ago.

That said, much like ourselves, Chelsea struggle away to top half teams losing at Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Villa and Brighton. While they've won a few they've looked far from convincing.

If we're on it and I'm sure we will be, we'll beat these, but I think it'll be a tight, nervous affair. 2-1.

With both Lavia and Caicedo now fit and featuring in their midfield, while we will be missing Joelinton, this is going to be a very big test.

Howe may have to come up with a clever tactical switch to try and catch them off guard.

Otherwise, could end up being a very disappointing day.

I’ve got full belief in Howe. But this game has become a lot trickier with Chelsea picking up confidence, form and players back from injury while we’re lost one.

I just back Howe in a big game like this at home.

This sounds naive and casual, but I think simply limit Cole Palmer, and they're quite shit, teams give him so much freedom, he needs roughing up, and Man marked, Joelinton would hammer him.

He's been shite for 5 months

Be inclined to start Miley and Gordon in this, maybe start Barnes and Gordon together or bring Barnes off the bench as an option? Really difficult call as Barnes is a match winner on his day but the Chelsea game feels like a game for Gordon. I don’t think Willock does enough to start and Miley would help with better ball retention - also has a goal in him.

He looked more like his old self yesterday to be fair.

He did but, as said elsewhere, if you give him the freedom of the pitch he'll do his thing.

I still think he's fawned over too much ( not inviting any fate/karma) at times.

Redknapp wanking himself over his involvement in the goal when all he did was make a pass I could've done 😉 for eg

I've never been on board with us just expecting to win because we are at home and Chelsea are a joke these days. They are only below us on goal difference, and still have some very dangerous players like Cole, Neto and Madueki. And yeah, Joelinton would have been big in this one, he was fantastic in our cup win over them earlier this season.

Very tough game, but hopefully our home advantage will swing it.

Yeah exactly, anyone any idea why this is a 12pm?

TNT picked it, it can’t be Saturday (They play Thursday) so for some reason they have put it at 12pm instead of 7pm like every other time this has happened this season

Chelsea are picking up good form and we're struggling to win against teams that aren't in the bottom half.

That said if we do manage to get a win I could see that giving us the confidence to do well in our final two games.

Hope Gordon comes in for Murphy, can see AG being right up for this.

I agree - I think I would play Gordon on the right though as I think he's better at RW than Barnes - I feel more is lost when we move Barnes to RW

Thought Barnes looked canny on the right yesterday
